HI Guys, what are the differences and uses between the 2 different Sisters Probe Launchers (Core Probe Launcher and Expanded Probe Launcher) and how do they compare to the one that comes in the Zephyr?
I am going to fit out a Buzzard and dont know what to go with.
Any advice would be apreciated.

Core prober launcher can only launch core scanner probes (for finding everything except ships). Expanded probe launcher can launch combat scanner probes (for finding ships) Sol: A microwarp drive? In a battleship? Are you insane? They arenĘt built for this! Clear Skies - The Movie

Thanks for the reply Louis. Can the expanded probe launcher launch both Core scanner probes and Combat scanner probes?

Yes you can. You can use also use combat probes to find other things than ships but they're much less effective than core probes. I can't recall out of my head what the Zephyr has fitted, but I think it's a Iris Probe Launcher, which use core probes I believe. Zephyr will NOT be attacked by Sleepers, but players will just love to get you on a killmail The deep space survey probe counts as a core probe I think. Moon survey probes (for scanning moons for resources) require expanded probe launcher I think.
Probes can NOT find : * Containers, anchorable or temporary. * Wrecks. * Cloaked ships. * Anything else you can't put on your overview, like other probes for example.

Thanks again.
So to cover all bases it looks like I would be better off with a Sisters Expanded probe Launcher, and a set of each probes (Core Probes and Combat Probes).
And if I understand correctly (onother area of Interest) the ability to look for wrecks wouldnt be covered as these cannot be scanned down?
Is there any other ways of scouting for wrecks in order to salvage?

Before you spend your isk or corp points on an expanded, please look into the fitting requirements.
The expanded launcher takes a lot more Power or CPU (i can't remember which).
I believe it will fit on a covert ops frig, but it may not leave room for much else.

The key is capacity. The sisters core holds .8 m3 while the sisters expanded holds 10 m3. The core probes are .1 m3 and combat are 1 m3. This is why the expanded can launch both but the core can't launch combat.
Core requires 10 CPU. Expanded requires 210 CPU making it a mroe difficult fit.
You find wrecks in missions by scanning down the ship or its drones while it is still running/salvaging the mission.

Covert Ops frigates can fit the Sister's expanded launcher, covert ops cloak, two gravity capacitor rigs, and a smattering of other modules (which will of course be extranneous to requirements). From memory I can't fit all the above and a cyno, but that may be due to only having cloaking 4, since cloaking 5 reduces the CPU requirement of the cloak significantly :)
hope this helps someone

Do not use the Zephyr. It is a toy meant to look pretty. It is in no way useful, as it doesn't have a bonus to scanning. You are much better off in a scanning bonused T1 frigate that every race has: Minmatar Probe, Caldari Heron, Amarr Magnate, Gallente Imicus.
* T1 Scanning frigates: 5% bonus to scan strength of probes per level of racial frigate skill * T2 Covert Ops frigates: 10% bonus to scan strength of probes per level of Covert Ops skill * T3 Strategic Cruisers: 10% increase to scan strength of probes and -99% reduced CPU need for Scan Probe Launchers per level of Electronic Subsystems skill when using an Emergent Locus Analyzer subsystem

You can also find wrecks by looking for the drones left behind by the person creating the wrecks. ___________ EVE is dying! Now for real! |

Ouch 44 million for a sisters expanded launcher.
Is that about right?

Or you could go grind L4s with Sisters for a couple days to get the LP to buy one yourself.

I run SoE missions to keep the Gallente and Minmatar from shooting at me, as I mostly run Amarr and Caldari missions.
The launchers are 14,400 loyalty points + 9,600,000 ISK + launcher. That takes very few level 4 missions. By the time you get a storyline, you've earned enough LP for a couple of launchers.

Wow, that's all? A friend told me it takes him days. Then again, he only plays a couple hours at a time. I have standing to run Sister's L4s. Maybe I should go grind those. Would help my suck Amarr and Caldari standing too. A year in Minmatar FW does a number on your Amarr standing.

The standard core probe launcher and expanded probe launcher only costs a few thousand ISK, and have the same functionality as the sister versions. The difference is slightly lower scan strength.
People new to scanning are probably better of trying out the cheap versions.
They are usually available at most market hubs.

Actually the sisters of Eve's derived standings are slightly negative with Amarr and Caldari.
