Edited by: LHA Tarawa on 11/08/2010 14:39:16 I spent another 300 million this morning, in addition to the 100 million+ I'd already spent on my buy program.
Sure, it will take months or maybe years to work off the excess inventory, but it was good to get in at the bottom.

For weeks, I've had a high drop rate L4 queued up before downtime. Then, even though it is 4AM my time, have been sitting at my PC at up time, rush to the mission and pop stuff then check the wrecks....
This morning, I saw exactly what I've been waiting to see. So I spent half my liquid bankroll... Cleaned out 2 regions.

What was, and should be selling for 10 million, suddenly starts selling for 100K... Sometimes it is worth it. Besides, my wife's alarm goes off at 4:30 anyway, so it isn't like I was getting up 2-3 hours early.

In Tyrannis, they made changes to the mission drop tables to remove large weapons, 1600 plate, and 100 mn MWD and AB. They replaced them with metal scraps.
Well, when they did this, they broke the AB and MWD drop rates and they've been falling like rain. Seemed like half the wrecks I've been seeing have had a MWD or AB.
The result was a MASSIVE increase in the availability of named AB and MWD. Prices dropped 90-99% for most of the named. Why buy a T2 MWD for 10 million when the almost equivilant meta 3 is selling for 100K? And still the meta 3's were falling in quantites so large to more than outstrip demand.
They fixed it.

Stock piling slowly... spent about 100 million ISK over the last couple weeks. Then went over the top and spent another 300+ million this morning.

I've never been one to stockpile items (way too easy for a casual trader like me to get burned), but I was disappointed the buy/sell market dried up in named AB/MWDs during Tyrannis release. Although I won't be stockpiling now either, I'm happy to see I can branch back out into that market again.

The AB/MWD change was intentionall, was even in the patch notes. The scale might have been a bit off though ;-) please resize your signature to the maximum allowed file size of 24000 bytes. Navigator Shhhh, Im hunting Badgers |

Well, I ran a couple long L4s this morning (extravaganza and vengance), and instead of getting a couple dozen ABs and MWDs with several of them named as has been happening for a couple months, I got 2. Both were T1 meta 0.

I know, right....
It was pretty clever of me to drive down the price of named MWDs by 90-99% in the last 6 weeks, just so I could make this post in an attempt to drive prices back up.
Or perhaps, it was a broken game mechanic that drove prices of T1 meta 3 ABs and MWDs down to less than 10% of the T2 near-equiv... and maybe they really did fix it.

So your claim is that the prices on these items, which started dropping two weeks before Tyrannis ever came out, was because of Tyrannis?

Edited by: Nathan Jameson on 11/08/2010 17:25:36 I was buying and selling those same items. They didn't take a solid hit till about a day after Tyrannis came out.
Additionally, since the drop rate change was in the patch notes *ahem* at least two weeks before the expansion was released...I'm not sure how you can prove a lack of correlation.

I'm claiming that the meta 3 MWD's and AB's were selling for near scrap prices becuase they were falling in wrecks like rain in Seattle. I also claim they are no longer falling like rain in Seattle. Fianlly, I claim that I've been a buyer in the last few weeks expecting a fix, and that I bought a crud ton more this morning when I saw they were no longer falling in NPC wrecks like rain falling in Seattle.
I was on a 2-week vacation when Tyrannis deployed, so am not exactly sure when they broke the drop rate. They were not dropping like rain before I went on vacation, and were when I returned. I assumed the break was Tyrannis caused since that was the major event that occured in that period and because of announced drop table changes in Tyrannis.

We should remove all meta MWD and AB as they are an unfair advantage to those new players who couldn't stock pile them before the patch that fixed it.
Sound familiar LHA

Sound familiar LHA
IF, having been a player for the last couple weeks, allowed me to continue to buy for 40% less than others, forever, and new players never had a chance to participate in the 40% under market at a reasonible buy in price, then you would have a point.
The difference between this and T2 BPOs is that this was a one time occurance where as the T2 BPOs keep on giving. This is why I've long been a proponent of, not just removing the T2 BPOs, but rather replacing them with BPCs with 5 years or so of copies.
But, I'm trying to give up that topic... It was an error, it is an error... they happen. New players have the oppertunity to cash in on future errors, even if they missed out on mass profits from previous errors.
