CCP, you've known that there exists a hack, one that can disrupt the local chat from properly functioning. This exploit allows for players to not show up in local chat while being able to fire on others freely, and is presently being used extensively by certain entities.
CCP, this is unacceptable. This MUST be fixed post haste, otherwise, you risk alienating players who abide by your EULA. Please, fix this soon, this sort of exploit not being dealt with severely limits your credibility and ruins the trust of your players.

There used to be a hack which enabled that.
As far as I know CCP fixed that.

He's referring to 0-w7 today where several hundred players have gone unaccounted for for hours on end. It is still not accurately relaying the number of players in local. The system did reset right before the problem started happening, so I would not be so quick to jump to "hackers", :sphere:. However, CCP does need to sort this crap out. Either get rid of local or keep it functional. As far as 0-w7, local is not working as intended... or maybe it is.
Quote: [21:28:38] GM Homonoia > Alright, here is the deal. Local chat in this system is not behaving correctly at the moment. At the moment it will cause less damage for us not to act and leave it as it is. Possibole workarounds: 1. Leaving the system and come back.
[21:31:53] GM Homonoia > I cannot make that judgement right here before our investigation has been concluded. But at this point in time everyone has had fair warning.
is not good enough.

local chat is a crutch for bad players so they can hide when the risk shows up

Quote: [21:28:38] GM quote supporting what asid above
So:
1) petition it as a possible exploit; 2) bug report it; 3) petition for reimbursement citing the bug report; 4) log in Sisi and try to contact directly a Developer there (improbable today, but still worth a try).
Good luck.

Funny how enough screenshots were made, GM right there confirming that there is a serious problem - and nothing happens.
I wonder when the games media will jump onto this. There is enough stuff to report now from the last few months of really shady stuff to fill quite some pages. But if that is open in the media it is too late for CCP to wake up and do something.
Pretty sad. |

I wished local functioned everywhere the way it does in wormholes.
