After testing it with Sienn we found out the following:
Warp into a belt and try to take something out of someone's container. No problem.
Warp into the same belt and try to put something in the same container and you get this: 2004.12.24 01:47:33notifyYou cannot put items into that container because it belongs to Sienn and you are not in their gang, their corporation or held in the highest personal standing by them.
Can someone explain? Or care to explain?
Better to try and fail, then to fail due to not trying |

It sure is interesting, jump in and take stuff is ok, but not to put anything in seems abit odd doesn't it...

It's to avoid having situations where people sneak contraband into macrominers orecans.

not sure if this has allways been the case or not.. but i showed info on a jetcan the other day and it had the avatar pic of the person who jetted it next the the description. You could click on the pic and bring up their character info. this brings up the whole question about jetcan ownership.

As far as i know you have always been able to see the char who jetted the can? but still, why lock a can from putting stuff in and not locking it for taking stuff out? The contraband thought was good but as long as you don't take it up in your cargohold and try to jump out of the system with it you are fine

Seems like an interesting way to track ore theives. So long as they don't take everything that was in your can.

Edited by: Killer Gandry on 24/12/2004 14:59:14 Well, if CCP considers a jetcan a way to drop unwanted trash then why is it that nobody can put anything in the same "garbagecan" as someone else. UNLESS. one is in the same Corporation, in the same gang or that person holds you in the HIGHEST personale standing. Strange that you have to be the best of buddies to put something in someone elses "garbagecan".
I would rather have seen it the other way around. As for macrominers, it won't help against those to put some contraband in it since the mining they do will be in the same system as they deliver the ore to. Since no gatejumping occurs they won't have any problems with contraband. Orethieves only will be affected if they scoop all asap and then warp out to another system without checking the stolen goods before they warp out.
Better to try and fail, then to fail due to not trying |
