I would like to know how to turn off the stupid forum filter that stars out words... often simple words that have *FAR* more uses in normal speach than for whatever reason that they've been deleted in this forum.
Two that I have noticed:
krak (spelled correctly) - is FAR more than a drug. In fact, it has a thousand-and-one uses beyond the name of a street drug.
a racial epithet for black persons. Strange how some posts have it filtered, but others do not. AND it's under each signature for that corporation 'snigrdly' inblemished. Make a clarification one way or another - either across the board editing or stop censoring.
I've not yet tried to use words referring to *****, fornication, a curse to one's spirit, and other more commonly used epithets and curses. If they can be worked around as easily as I have done so above, why bother with this 'censorship' program/library at all?

The game and the forum are Teen/13 rated. That's why we have a filter and (according to some) strict Forum Rules.
As has been mentioned, bypassing the filter is against the rules as well, so is discussing moderation.
I'll ask however if there is a possibility to turn the filter off for each user that is an adult. The problem will be knowing who is an adult that logs in and who is not.
I ♥ my pink dreadnought of pwnage Mail [email protected] if you have any questions. |

Edited by: Avon on 24/12/2004 11:19:08 Just a quick question from me About Eris' suggested policy Age filters are fine But will you measure by time Or by level of maturity?
Some adults measured in years Lack a little between the ears They cause more pain Through the medium of flame Due to predudice, bias and fears.
Maybe the thing to do Is measure the posters IQ? Filter the dumb To improve the fun Of forum users like me and you! ______________________________________________
Never argue with idiots. They will just drag it down to their level, and then beat you through experience. |

You need a credit card to play thus at least one adult is involved into giving the minor access to the game.
Make it an option in account details so when the adult enters or edits the account information he can enable or disable the filter.
For the rest the adult is responsible for what the child does, at that stage its out of your hands if the child disables the filter without its parents permissions.

Everyone paying withc CC is an adult or somone else would pay for his account what would be ilegal. So every account payed with CC should be considert as adult.

Keep the filter, don't un-filter posts.
Just remove the stupid things (*****, hmm?) and it's fine.

Bypassing the profanity filter can result in a warning. If you email us we're willing to discuss which words should and shouldn't be in the filter, but there will be no option to turn it off.
Yes, you need need a credit card to play, in most forms of payment, but an adult can open an account for a minor as long as he/she is above 13.
