Ya, ghost trade orders are not a real issue because they already have a built-in expiration. All player market orders will expire within 90 days. On an inactive account there is no way of updating the order to extend that time. As long as there is no way for another character to edit an inactive player's market orders, there is no real issue with ghost trade orders.

But I can say that CCP has been communicating with CSM in a timely and detailed fashion this past week about the processing and status of our items related to dev planning activities. It does begin to feel like CSM is being treated as a stakeholder. It's a good start that has me feeling cautiously optimistic.
Sounds good. Hope it stays this way and improves even more (if that's possible).

Originally by: Vaal Erit At first I thought you were doing this because it would make datacore harvesters pay for more account time = more money for CCP. But I don't think datacores can pay for a PLEX/month so I think people will reactivate one last time and then close their datacore farming accounts which = less money for CCP.
Datacore farming can go a long way toward covering a PLEX a month, even if you don't push the long skills to level 5 (Research Project Management, Negotiation) and grind standings with the obscure R&D corps that pay the best. It is relatively easy to get to 2/3 of a PLEX a month by selling datacores, even in the current market.
My question here is - when does ghost RP farming end?

Quote: This change is long overdue and will hopefully benefit our active players.
Well, it is possible in that case, but still, it is not that move who will really help. After all, it only concerns players who make some R&D, not everyone.
You have to do some balancing changes in the same time. Corrected Rolfkets can boost the production and/or the trade of all ships who depend of it, and I think we can say that it will concern more players than R&D who require very high standings if you want a good RP production.
Also, actually Caldari players are marginalized more and more every day. Most fleets want only armor tanked ships, because you screw up shield so much that it sucks today (remember the "Amarr Boost" when you nerf more the shield than armor because you remove points without take care of the total of each tank ?).
I hope that you will redesign few points of the shield tank. At least, a few more resists points to compensate the previous nerf, but more important, I hope that you will make the shield bonus applied on all ships of a fleet like armor bonus, or at least to Caldari ships. It is just unfair that armor tank has an advantage after jumping while shield players have to wait 15 MINUTES AT MINIMUM to get full shield on a buffer tank ! If there is a fight just after jumping, Caldari players are screwed.
(And for the idiots who will say that "bonus will give you a faster passive regen", it is not a 6 HP/S (or 20 HP/S for a purged drake) at 30% shield, who will make Caldari overpowered).
This changes can affect the shield modules market too.
I don't think that this changes are big or require more than 5 minutes of your time. Please examinate them.

One down, 978457393 to go ;-)
Seriously though, I'm pretty sure this will have a larger effect than most people realize.. I know I made a good chunk when I resubbed after 8 months and found all those datacores (total accident on my part, since I don't play indy much at all). Very curious to see if the T2 market is going to go up to a reasonable level or not..
Anyway, to my point - Good job! Keep fixing all you can in the short run, while working on the more difficult things behind the scenes... That being said, the largest barrier to my continued subscription is DEFFINITELY rockets... The thought of a fast firing, close range, rocket ship is one of the reasons I started playing EVE and it really sucked to have to start cross training and avoiding many of the ships I'd originally wanted to fly, because rockets suck.. --Zan--
Oveur, thanks for the blog! The 18 month thing is totally acceptable when stated as it was in the blog. Ugly, ugly avatar, but GREAT blog! Oh, & I retract the ban |

i am much more intrested in a solid way to propose ideas, except the ideas forum which kinda doesnt work by lack of response,
people are using this thread obviosuly to put forward their ideas or nice to haves, cause they hope to get heard
for me i would love remote reprocessing skill, much like u can order stuff remotely or sell it, it would be nice if u could train to reprocess remotly in a region.
This would also help reducing silly stacks and storages filled with a few items most eve players collect over the years, as minerals sell better, especially in 0.0, then items. leading to smaller database on ccp side
ghost training: good riddens, if u dont wanna pay for your account and benefit from eve, then u in no way contribute too the development of our favourite game, this wil lend leechign on that part, good.

How is it even possible for you to think that this is worth spending dev and qa time, when you could allocate those resources to something more important, like fixing the sound? It's just like with this deep safespots removal stuff - why bother when you have a lot of more important things to fix. By important I mean affecting everyone instead just a group. Like sound.

My sound is fine so I guess this only affects a group too, not worth bothering with according to your logic. But I guess you dont get that letting us know small fixes to problems that seriously affect some players have been implemented is a good idea. Ill let you figure out why on your own.

Is there any chance of getting some numbers about how many inactive accounts are farming datacores?
If there is going to be a significant reduction in the supply of datacores will the RP rates be changed to compensate?
The assembly hall thread on this issue seemed to be driven by nerd rage rather than economic logic and I have a suspicion that this change will result in increased costs for manufacturing T2 items. There are pros and cons to making pvp more expensive however it would be interesting to know what CCP intends with this change.
As an example these are the costs from my last 2 batches of T2 modules:
Batch 1 Total Cost 445,594,819.03 isk Datacores 171,538,169.52 isk (38.5% of total costs)
Batch 2 Total Cost 211,611,407.68 isk Datacores 147,068,847.26 isk (69.5% of total costs)
With datacores making up such a large proportion of manufacturing costs any change in supply will have big impacts on the market.
Is this change being made with the specific intention of raising manufacturing costs and if not will there be a change in RP rates?

if we now assume DCs rise by 33% the complete cost would rise by 10%
though I think the long term DC farmers won't have this kind of impact.. more in the region of 15% so we might see 3% higher t2 prod costs and we also got other players who might train up the one or other R skill to compensate and cash in/earn some isk on the side
also, read the DC discussion in MD forums.. I agree with their pov - DC prices will fall further and even out (gall ship <100k/u vs minmat ship cores >350k/u for example)
most used cores - mech - are around 320k/u on average lately (t2/3 both use them)

CCP Fallout you should get issue 43 rolling Covert cynosuralfields in high security space
I would love a much easier way of attacking or bypassing gate camps in low sec using a high sec Covert cynosuralfield. This would also make high sec war tactics much more interesting as you could sit several systems away waiting to pounce rather than the neighboring system which they probably know you are there due to scouts. I think it would also make black ops more popular to which I think would be a good thing.
I can also see it a great way to introduce cynosuralfields to newer players and people learning to how to use them. There are a tone of Youtube videos of people trying to figure out how to covert cyno and I mean a tone, some are kinda funny in the things they try and say to make it work.

Yes not only would we have to deal with neutral RR, we would also have to look out for neutral cyno alts if this happens. Sure it would be awesome to gank WT's that are mission running this way but would be horribly imbalanced.

Hey i have an idear. How about introducing datacores into EVE in a more sensible way then this mindless AFK way of making money. Hov about making lines of missions or actual work you can do with in the game PI would be a good choice here.
Then you can remove R&D agensts all together seeing as it makes no sence to have them in the game anyway.
Yes i was one of the people who joined the game to work with some imaginary science system where i could invent stuff that made me ritch which was never what research agents was about from the very beginning.
This way of introducing datacores is mindless and not in line with EVEs over all game play. So dont do the change remove the R&D agents - Force a datacore payout for everyone who have datacores now and find some other way of introducing the datacores. Honestly that would properly have taken you a shorter time then doing this fix :P
- Find out what datacores should be build from
- Introduce blueprints to build sayed datacores from material from step 1
You save writing code that doesnt belong in the game and will be run on every account every day. You move the process of introducing a item to a tested and tryed area production and PI.

"On a sidenote, this was an issue our team picked off the CSMs list of priorities. ItÆs a great list that outlines both big and small concerns in the community and hopefully we can continue to address it. Summers are pretty quiet here, due to holidays and itÆs a great time to go over the list and pick a few items for your team. Hopefully, we can bring you more items off the CSMs list, but till then, hereÆs one of them."
That's the bit that impressed me the most, finally some work being done on the CSM backlog rather than just making odd out of the blue changes like movable PLEXes.

Who runs missions while at war anyway? Also if at war you should have local window opened way up so the second you see hostiles you leave your mission ASAP. Also you should have a watch list setup of every member of the corp, easy info to find to, go look at they're kill board. Don't mission if a bunch of them are on.
Covert cyno would be a tool used buy people who are going to really fight a war. If you don't want to fight a war and want to mission then leave the corp or don't play till the war is over. Same with people who want to mine, I can't tell you how many corps still hold mining ops with 0 scouts or support when at war and then cry when they die. You can't play like nothing is going on when at war or you will die either it be by normal means or by a covert strike wing that cyno in on you. It happens in null sec and its not OP in fact its not even used all that much vs a normal cyno anyway so how is it OP in high sec.
If you can't fight a war you pull pos'es down and play another game for a bit. If you can you pull out all pos modules and online all weapons, Fleet up and do what you must to ruin the enemy as best you can using any means necessary. Covert cyno would be a new fun useful tool.

Lot's of people do thankfully and if you wardec an alliance none of them will have you in their friends list.
To have local open will be pretty useless as that ninja salvager that all off a sudden decided to bump you actually turns out to be a covert cyno guy dropping some WT's on top of you.
I would love to have covert cynos in highsec, I just think it would be a bit too easy to catch wartargets.
