Quote: MMORPG fans Rejoice! If you?ve ever had the unfortunate task of ditching your Level 37 warrior simply so you could join friends in a different server and dreamt for a better way, your wish has been granted. Wish is the first Ultra Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (UMMORPG?). "Ultra" means that Wish supports more than 10,000 simultaneous players in a single, seamless world, without any zones or "shards".
Taken from this week's fileplanet weekly. I think they need correcting.

They are charging $10 for 30 days, $4 cheaper than what we pay each month. -------------------------------- CCP can patch away bugs, but they can't patch away stupidity. |

Edited by: Kuggington on 25/12/2004 00:49:46 We could all send a feedback message correcting them, they would have to do something if a few thousand people sent the same message.
Edit: I just looked around a bit and found out that it was the game's developers that made this statement, Linkage.

They are probably dismissing EVE because it has "zones", in the forum of systems. I emailed them anyways, mostly because UMMORPG sounds really stupid.

Yeah what happens when someone creates something larger than a "ummorpg"? wtf is it then, a "ummmorpg"? (ultramegaonlineroleplayinggame). They just put ultra in to make it sound better -----------------

Quote: Wish defines a new category of online game, the "Ultra Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game" (UMMORPG). Unlike existing MMORPGs that confine players to a server with only a few hundred other players, Wish's highly-scalable server cluster infrastructure allows the game to support tens of thousands of simultaneous players in a single shared world.
Wish is also the first massively multi player online role playing game that truly tells a story, and lets player actions have lasting implications on the world. Its single-world approach allows Mutable Realms to employ a dedicated Live Story Team whose singular purpose is to keep the story moving forward, providing a fresh gaming experience for its users each time they play.

It's the same as with laundry soap. When 'ultra' becomes old and overused (New 'Ultra Sudz'!), they start using colors (New 'Sudz Blue'! Look, it has blue bits in it!).
I think that game's marketing department needs to step out of the early 1990s.
