I was reading a guide that told me what attributes i should get to gear my character to what what i wanted to do. it told be i should be a certain race to get certain attributes. i just created my character and i pretty much have a 7 points in all attributes and i can move down a skill point to a base of 5. in this guide it says i shouldnt even get charisma and i should have it at 3, but it seems now the lowest you can go is 5. was something changed to character creation or am i missing something?

That was changed a while ago so that guide is no longer current.
The only differences between the races now are what racial frig and weapon skill they start with.

What the guy above said.

You actually have 8 in all except charisma, the only one at 7. Everybody gets that nowadays at the start. You also get a pair of no-timer remaps, use them wisely and sparingly. Why ? Because you need to wait ONE FULL YEAR after the second to do the third.

Actually you get -one- timer free remap, the second is your first year-long remap.

Depends on your viewpoint. I tend to agree with you and usually call it "one actual free remap", but that only confuses new people when they see "2 free remaps" in their character sheet.
That's why I added that last line in my previous post, just in case, for clarity's sake.

Fair enough. I just read your post and it reminded me of my friends who asked "WTF happened to my second FREE REMAP?"
Personally, I think it looks highly misleading in-game, and I feel for the poor rookies who find out the hard way.

Interesting. From my POV, you get two remaps you can do right away ("free"), then you have to wait a year for the next one. ___________ EVE is dying! Now for real! |

Yeah, it depends on what your understanding and expectations of something you call "free" means
If by "free" you mean "free to do", as in, "free to enact now if I want to", then yeah, you have two. If by "free" you mean "free of cost", as in, "not adding any restrictions to what I can do afterwards", then you only have one.

I almost always stick to the second usage.
If i'm getting a sandwhich for "free," but I had to give out my name, adress, and telephone number to the sandwhich vendor... the sandwhich wasn't free.
There is no 'cost' to remaps other than the time-restriction, therefor, you do 'pay' after the first one is used (because upon utilizing the second, you're restricted).
This makes the most sense, of course, assuming you're not putting an appreciable value on the generic starter attriubte set.
