I have a question regarding skill implants and training multipliers. How do these effect the skill queue timing?
Issue: I have been thrown off this past week by the skill timer lying to me and I have begun to notice that the multipliers and things alter the projected skill training time. By that I mean that the estimated time to complete a skill according to the queue is false and this past week I have seen my skills running out.
For example, yesterday around 18:00 (6pm) I kicked off skills that the queue estimated would take 1 day and 11 hours to complete. Obviously I thought "great my queue is full" but I woke up this morning and as of 8am queue now says "1 hour 55 min" remaining where as it should be down to 21 hours. (the skill I am training shows a skill multiplier of 5x. Fact, yesterday I skilled up on a skill that had a multiplier of 8x).
Conclusion The only conclusion I have thought of is that the skill queue is estimating the actual time to complete the skill whereas perhaps the multipliers are altering that actual time when it begins the skill training? Which causes more headache because you can't put more than 1 day in the skill queue at a given time, so if I kick off a skill and hope it will last the whole day, I can't add more than 1 day to the queue so there is a higher risk of running out of skills the next morning, given this factor, correct?
If that is the case, then how does this work? Because doing the math if a skill is multiplied 5x, this doesn't add up to the figures I am seeing at 8am this morning, either.

Did you put in any implants after you set your skill queue? |

This would appear to be the most likely answer as you never applied your skill queue changes and were actually looking at a different skill than you thought.

1.) The multiplier in a skill only tells you how long a skill will take to train in relation to other skills.
A 5x multiplier means that this skill takes 5 times longer to skill then a 1x skill with the same attributes. Same for a 14x which takes 14 times longer then a 1x.
2.) Your issue is unknown to me. I run 4 accounts for over 2 years and never had such issue. Like said, you likely didn't hit the accept button when you set your queue which means the old queue is applied.
3.) You can START training up to 24h in the queue, but skills can be much longer then that. I usually have a very long skill on the end of the queue and if I need to train something else I put it in front of it. This is so I never actually am not skilling something. Thanks for the replies, No cerebral accelerator, but sounds fancy, maybe I will look into it. I've had the implants for 3 weeks now but have only been training things which had a multiplier of 1x and all seemed well, this is the first time I started training things with a greater multiplier, which I guess is why I keep revisiting the "Multiplier" if you understand my reasoning?
Here is what I am finding. My implants allow me to skill at 2070 points/hour (so it says). I have done the math just now and realized that the skill queue in game (if I take into account the projected time that the skill queue is reporting to me) will complete in the 1 day 11 hours figure I mentioned above if I skill at 1143 points/hour which is actually real close to what my skill queue was without implants. But currently, I am skilling at 2486 points/hour (by doing the math) so as you can tell, I am just about doubling my time vs. what I should be given the estimated completion time in the skill queue. Now, I am still skilling faster than I should be [supposedly] according to my implant figure.
This is what has me confused, the math doesnGÇÖt add up: therefore I am missing a variable somewhere, I just don't know what variable that isGǪ.?

If you hover the mouse over the skill bar under your portrait in the Neocom, it will tell you how long it will take the current skill to finish training. Not how long it will take to finish the whole set of skills in the queue. You have to open up the training queue to see the full queue. This has caught me out a few times. Is this the issue? |

I am not sure about that, In my case its training faster than a 1x, because if a skill told me 4 days with a 1x multiplier, it took 4 days. I am skilling things now that say 5x, 8x etc. and that is what I am saying, I went from a 35 hour queue down to a 16 hour queue overnight. So if it is not the multiplier, what variable is it? What am I missing?
Regarding your #3: I cannot add skills beyond 1 day. If I have 23 hours on my skill I can sneak by GÇô by throwing a 4 day skill up which increases the queue to 5 days, but if I have 1 day worth of skills on the queue then throw a 4 day, it will tell me my queue is full. Is this what you're talking about?

The two most common things I've done when I had this problem:
1 - Forgot to click "apply" after putting my new skills on the end of the queue.
2 - Looked at the time to completion by hovering the mouse over the quickbar, which tells you the completion time of the next _skill_, not the _queue_.
If you're exceeding 2070 by a factor on the order of 2, you're definitely reading something wrong (or you've found an actual bug you need to petition, but that seems unlikely). |

A level 1 skill with a 5x multiplier ALWAYS is shorter then a level 5 skill with a 1x multiplier
Level 1 skill (1x) = 10min Level 1 skill (5x) = 50min (5 x 10 min)
Skill multipliers only work if the skills:
- Are the same level, so level 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5. You can't compare training skill x to level 5 with skill y to level 1. - Are using the same attributes, different attributes give different skill times depending on you neural remap.
As said, that multiplier has nothing to do with this issue.
---
And yes, if your skill queue is CURRENTLY less then 24h long, you can add skills. As soon as the skillqueue is more then 24h you can't add skills to the end of it.
You can put skills in front of the queue (or middle) but this can mean the last skill drops of the queue.
ALL skills in the queue must START in the next 24h. Inject your skillbook before you leave the station. Neo didnGÇÖt learn Kung-Fu by having it sit in his usb drive.-á If it moves, shoot it. This + you keep saying "i did the math" "after doing the math" math math math.
You shouldn't have to do any math to determine skill training times. The game takes your attributes into account and gives you the exact training time, thats all there is to it. |

Perhaps take a screenshot of what exactly you're talking about and post it here so we can see? As everyone else has reported, I've never heard of the skill training queue being inaccurate in its timing. Also,
Ano Regni wrote:My implants allow me to skill at 2070 points/hour (so it says). A skill's training time is totally dependent on what that skill is and what your attributes are. For example, take a look at the skill "Destoyers." It lists "Perception" as its primary attribute and "Willpower" as its secondary attribute. Because of this, the more points you have in your Perception and Willpower attributes, the faster the Destroyers skill will train. Core Skills - train em up train em up! |
