Is Team USA's militaristic uniform a problem?
Quote: Fashion critics long have charged that military fashions are a problem because they aestheticize war and divorce clothes from their true functions and origins. We ought to be wary of efforts to make any aspect of war desirable. Considering that the U.S. spends more on defense than the next 10 nations combined, some would argue that dressing the Olympians like members of the armed forces during the biggest television event of the year is an arrogant or impolitic choice.
I, for one, cannot wait for Rush Limbaugh's, Jon Stewart's, and Stephen Colbert's responses and commentary.

I, for one, think people have way too much free time. Can't we just stick with "because the designer thought it looked good"? The Skunkworks is recruiting. -áhttps://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1540711#post1540711 |

The yoke allowed a faster horse to be used in place of the slower ox for plowing fields. This lead to a surplus of food which allowed society to support significantly more non-farming specialists. Specialists such as people who double major in fashion design and sociology.

Well, they are on an island and there are precious metals involved, so the Mr Howell style luxury yachting outfits fit the theme...

Hm, sounds like someone never heard of private school. I always though public was never as equal.
Plus the models are more military then uniforms. Maybe the model world needs another zoolander, to help them wake up from their imperialistic dream. I will not be voting in the CSM election, so you need to go vote to make up for me. |

Doh. I think that after seeing Czech Republic's rubber boots and Moldova's white elbow patches, nobody had any sane eye left to care of USA's uniforms... "We want your help to convince management to develop Incarna into 3rd person shooter dungeon raiding with friendly fire in nullsec space..."

Interesting. The thing that sticks out the most for the US team, imo is the beret. Strongly out of character for a sporting event, unless you're trying to potray a militaristic impression or convey certain messages.
Clothes are but a reflection of one's state of mind. The Germans did the same in WW2. Their WW2 era uniforms, I think most would agree, tend to look better and smarter .... more appealing. Cosplay with SS uniforms? I know I wouldn't mind.
