Ive just splashed out on multi-monitors, now running two samsung p2050's off a single ATI 4650.
The performance on eve seems to be fine, except for one thing. Mouse flicker.
Whenever I move my mouse around in the eve window (windowed or fullscreen mode) it flickers on and off and suffers from bad lag, so even though the game itself is running fine, the mouse is not.
has anyone else had similar problems, knows how to fix it or has general advice for running eve with more then one monitor?
Note: the second monitor is not running a second copy of eve, nor is it spanning eve across two monitors (although I would like to do that!), Its simply running skype on the other window.

It's a shame that ATI ruins their hardware with crappy drivers. The Linux drivers barely work at all and apparently the Windows ones aren't that much better.

This is the only driver I've had an issue with for quite some time (as in a year 'some time'). ---

Because mouse flicker is sooooo much worse than Nvidia's 196.75 screw up where fans would no longer go past 40% speed, regardless of temperature...
Both sides mess up. ATI hasn't been 'crappy' for years now.

Any word on the front of spanning eve across two monitors?

XP: Span mode, which gives you a single resolution across both displays like 3840x1080, which then becomes an option in the EVE settings. Vista/Seven: No-go, going to need Eyefinity (ATI 5000 series) or 2D/3D Surround Gaming (Nvidia GTX400 series). The software span modes were dropped by MS when redesigning the Display Driver Model. Eyefinity and #D Surround use onboard hardware to fool Windows into thinking your 2 or more displays are actually one single big display.

Slightly off-topic, but related:
Many people go cheap on monitors, which really won't make a high-end graphics card(s) look good. It also doesn't make sense when you consider how much you'll be staring at your monitors.
I highly recommend getting good monitors (splurge, as you'll probably have them longer than the computer) and a colour calibrator (even a cheap one). Especially when using multiple monitors, a colour calibrator is essential. I use a Sypder 3 Pro, and it greatly improves the appearance of my monitors (dual Dell U2410 driven by dual factory overclocked SLI Nvidia GTX 285 via HDMI).
Tip: if running multiple clients in window mode use ESC -> General Settings -> Show Window Identification (check-box on left, above font size), which adds character ID to window frames and taskbar buttons.

AFAIK you can also get a box to plug both monitors into that plugs into your computer, that makes it think it's one big monitor.

Doesn't using 2 monitors put the centre interface exactly where the bezels are?
Surely 3 screens = win?
If you're reading this, you've read too far and now you're on my sig. Concentrate on what I said before you got to this bit. Ok? |

While they might not be crappy as they once were, they still have far more issues even now then nvidia's. Yes not everyone experiences the issues but they do crop up from time to time especially when dealing with xfire configurations. Crappy def isn't the right word for them anymore, but not as good and not nearly as many features describes them much better.

with Catalyst 10.6 I got a large number of random BSOD's while playing games - rolled back to 10.5, issues gone.
I then installed 10.7, and have had no issues with those, but since seeing the various threads about 10.8 I think I'll be steering clear of them...

Try click-dragging the capacitor display

You could try adjusting the hardware acceleration stuff if you don't want to roll back the drivers. Display Settings > Advanced > Troubleshoot, then slide the Hardware Acceleration slider 1 notch below "full". That usually corrects mouse problems.

ATI still having bad drivers?
A friend of mine was telling me that they were working better now, but this thread has made me pleased that I'm rocking nVidia.
Absolutely no problems running multi monitor/multi accounts on it.
