Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this.
Que Backstory and other Info Sources
Wind back 500 years to the time when the Jovians lived in Curse, more specifically the Heaven Constellation of Curse:
"The Third Empire was founded half a millennium ago amidst the devastation of the Jovian Disease, which threatened to disintegrate Jovian society. In a desperate attempt to escape the wrath of the mysterious epidemic, the Jovians decided to relocate to another part of the world. Three huge vessels were built, termed Motherships; they were the first Titan-class ships ever built. The majority of the Jovian population relocated in the Motherships. Those showing any sign of the Disease were left behind to die." -Source
The main part of this quote I'd like to focus on is: "Three huge vessels were built, termed Motherships; they were the first Titan-class ships ever built."
Zoom forward 500 years to the present day and we had a news report about Sansha Capitals in Jove Space:
"In reaction to the data acquired by capsuleer Mouse Nell, indicating a major Sansha military presence within the borders of the Jove Empire, the Amarr Empire has set all its military forces to a state of high alert." -Source
And then, into the future we go, basing our predictions off a recent EVE Dev Interview:
"The ultimate goal of incursions is to defeat the mothership at the core, although it's nothing less than suicide to make a beeline for this ship right away. If players don't pick off the outer ring of ships -- and thus weaken the fleet's defenses -- their ships will be weakened if they decide to attack the mothership. If the mothership goes kablooey, then ISK and loyalty points will be had by all, in addition to the brand-new blueprints to said defeated mothership." -Source
Start Speculation
In Dominion, motherships were renamed to supercarriers. CCP claimed that this was because the ships in-game weren't as awesome as their name implied, or something along those lines. Now, incidentally, the name 'mothership' has appeared again.
Assuming the Jovians and the Sansha are working together (maybe harvesting humans has something to do with finding a cure for the Jovian disease?), it would be safe to assume the Jovians would have provided the Sansha with some of their awesome technology. Maybe even schematics for these awesome motherships.
Also, assuming the chronicle I quoted above is accurate, we know that motherships were originally Titan class vessels create by the Jove. I'm guessing they were primarily used for transport, rather than combat, so we're not going to end up with faction Titans appearing across EVE ... but ... well ... I can't help but think we may end up with Jovian motherships, pilotalbe by capsulers, entering New Eden very soon!
Anyone come to the same conclusion? Anyone with more in-depth knowledge of EVE's backstory able to shed any light or propose any other theories on this topic?

Nice analysis, the only part I would question is the assumption that the Sansha presence in Jove space is co-operation and not an invasion.

I think this is the smoking gun for the story.

We will go to Jove space to fight off the Sansha. Once there we will go system by system to get to the "end" where the mothership is. Then the LP given will be for the Jove faction for helping them...from then on we can mission and live in Jove space.

Having come from other games where pirate "incursions" were a weekly event, I'm more likely to think this becoming a semi-permanent fixture of the game, instead of a quick arc we work through. It's being advertised as more of a feature in the upcoming expansion than simply something for the RP'ers.

Edited by: My Entity on 06/09/2010 06:47:33 CCP should just introduce EVE Online II and have the whole Jovian space expanded, along with the introduction of the playable Jovian race. CCP should distribute new boxed retail version of the EVE Online II and try to attract some new players as well. I don't mind paying another $40 for some Jovian content that players have been looking forward to for many many years.
Race change would be much appreciated too, if Jovian race is introduced =)

There is a lot of room between being best buddies and mortal enemies, indifference being among them.
As far as the incursion goes I think it will be something like exploration unknown plexes that become public when you warp to them and that escalate into lowsec for the final plex. All the while the npcs will be using sleeper drone AI. All these game mechanics are already in game so, go copy and paste expansion.

Edited by: Ryoku on 07/09/2010 20:27:32 Theocdicy... thats all i have to say.
Enheduanni manipulation of the Amarr... would the sansha not be just as vulnerable?
the newest chronicle effectively details how pod death results in momentary existence(albeit in the form of pure) outside of a corporeal form...
have we yet to not consider the greatest enemy of the jove(and therefore of us as well) could be involved here? they had a level of sophistication and advancement that even impressed the jove. which means they are fully capable of the kind of empowerment necessary to revive the dead nation and make the sansha a force to be reckoned with... i'm posting in the main to start a better discussion on this...
