This is my 3rd time trying to play EVE since 2010. Other than getting a little bored the first two times at least I made money and completed missions. Now I cannot do either...No matter what ship I use on level 1 missions, I die...doesnt even matter that I spent 3 million on upgrades....the enemy ships in any mission kill me. Worst thing is this is a rookie mission requiring rookie ships... I am at a loss and cancelled my sub.....no other game has made me so frustrated, worse is that the last two times I did well. |

EVE PvE, if done correctly, is actually one of the easiest you can play out of all MMOs (compared to traditional raiding and such).
If you fail at level 1 missions, you probably do one or more of these mistakes: - you fit your ship badly (eg. wrong weapons, wrong modules, weak ship tanking) - you are using non-combat ship - you are not using your ships bonuses to your advantage - you are trying to engage too many enemies at close range without having sufficient tank - you are using your weapons at wrong range and thus deal low dps - you have not trained even the basic skills needed for PvE - you do not research information about missions and are using wrong type of tank or wrong type of damage - you are trying to do the missions half-afk - you are bad at clicking 1-3 icons, in which case you should get back to minesweeper
Feel free to use Google or ask people for specific advice. Unlike in other MMOs, some of the forum residents (not many of them, yet at least some of them) are actually mature and helpful people.
Edit: for your information, I finished the Sisters of EVE epic arc involving killing 2 rather strong npc battlecruisers on my 2nd day without any boosting or help. I had some knowledge of the game beforehand, but managed to do just fine literally almost naked with bare hands. |

Make sure to follow the tutorials on screen . Even thought your in a really crappy ship the tutorials tell you how to fly and fit it properly. Each missions is meant to meet your skill level, although a lot of them seem to be harder than others.
Tutorials are meant to be for people with 0 skills, thus all the modules don't require any skills. This still makes it hard to kill the rats and tank them, but if you follow instructions it should be easy! |

Normal level 1 missions are random and you can get easy or hard missions. Maybe go try level 1 Epic Arc which has fixed set of missions and don't randomly offer harder ones. (There are few harder ones later on in that epic arc.)
That mission chain starts from Sister Alitura in solarsystem Arnon.
Also, if you want more specific help, tell what ship and modules you are using.

[.....] this is a rookie mission requiring rookie ships This is not true, level 1 missions require actual (non rookie) ships. Tutorial missions have no level and the opening missions only can be realistically done in a rookie ship.
What ships did you try? How were you fitting them? - "Do not touch anything unnecessarily. Beware of pretty girls in dance halls and parks who may be spies, as well as bicycles, revolvers, uniforms, arms, dead horses, and men lying on roads -- they are not there accidentally." -Soviet infantry manual, issued in the 1930's |

A ship with officer-level equipment (e.g. billions of ISK in modules) that are just randomly thrown on is going to perform worse than a ship with flat tech 1 equipment carefully considered. The stuff you fit needs to be carefully considered. If you're just throwing random modules on that you happened to pick up, stop. Figure out what you want to fit and buy it.
If you want more specific help you'll probably need to tell us what ship you were flying. |

Clearly not cut for EVE Online.
3 tries, no luck. Maybe EVE wasn't the game for the person. Inject your skillbook before you leave the station. Neo didnGÇÖt learn Kung-Fu by having it sit in his usb drive.-á If it moves, shoot it. First off, I like you all! And this thread will help me get better at the pew pew:ing! Recently I lost 2 ships for a couple of Exotic Dancers... Yes... Good thing I had a friend that helped me with that.
Anyways, a few missions later, I lost another ship... This time it was insured, and that was good. Because I lost another one. Third time, new ship, new fitting and a bit of aggression, they got what they deserved.
That list will help me! And thank you, hope other rookies also take a look at this! |

Thank you for all your replies, as you can tell I was really frustrated when I posted.
The good news is that I figured out what the issue was. I only took 1 tutorial 2 years ago, with my original character on my first account. Thus, a year after that I created this one and did not take any tutorials. Took the wrong approach to the game this time around as well.
As a result, I took a deep breath and created a 3rd character, and so far have taken 2 different tutorials and plan on taking them all. I can tell already all the mistakes I made such as taking too difficult a mission, and not researching whats the best fitting for such a mission etc.
Anyway, thanks for the replies, and I am having allot of fun, now and will probably try and transfer all of Ian The Banes' s stuff to my Caldari character Angron Chaos.
Heh, I was really angry when I created his name and avatar (see below). |

I had a friend with the same issue and for the life of me couldnt understand why. As someone before has mentioned, you must be fit all wrong and doing things in combat that you shouldnt.
My first suggestion will always be dont mis match weapons. Then when you have those set correctly, first thing you do when you load ammo into them is check their optimal range, set that on your orbit icon (right click on the icon to set distance).
Short of that, you must be trying to do combat missions in an Iteron lol Join the Knights Of Illusion STE Corporation! Casual and Hardcore gamers! |
