BEFORE YOU GO YAY MAILDUMP, THIS IS NOT YET IN EFFECT - THIS POST IS TO JUDGE IF IT IS EVEN WANTED.
If you would like EVSCO/EVE-KILL to do daily mail dumps of all its killmails for a day, what would you do with it? Would you pay isk for it, or want it for free.
Lemme know, and we will figure out if its something that we want to do.

I personally wouldn't need it, but I still think it would be a good idea. If it was free I might download it to do some stats gathering.
One question though... what if someone post a mail from a couple of days back. Would it update that file as well or would it be based on when it was added.
What about reported killmails. Would they be deleted from the list as well?

That would be a lot of processing time and bandwidth to offer as a free service.

Say today is the 25th, it generates mails for the 24th.
As for reported mails and fakes, if they havnt been removed they end up in the dump, sadly..

Processing time isn't that horrible, takes 5-6minutes to do, as for bandwidth its not that terrible either :)
But lets see if others have ideas for the use of it, before we go ahead with it :) Keep em comming!

So I am looking for the top 10 destroyed ships in Eve, in a 24 hour period While Eve-Kill has the top 20 ships to kill, I didnt see the destroyed list anywhere.
I have looked around, but does CCP even put out a list of types of destroyed ships? Or is just a number associated with a system?
If so how does Eve-Kill get its data?

Lemme get this straight: you charge people for putting their data on your website and you than turn around and try to sell that data?
Besides - have you asked if your board renters are willing to share their data that way?
If this wasn't the Tech Lab forum, I'd have thrown some strong thoughts of mine your way. -- EVEWalletAware - an offline wallet manager |

Why so angry? Last I checked eve-kill was free (with the option to pay), already shared all that data and already allowed anyone to download it for free via the killboard feeds? --

This, and even if they didn't enable the feeds it's still fairly easy to reconstruct the killmail (or just put the data directly into a DB) by parsing the actual kill details page.

Which already is a massive privacy breach. No need to expand it any further.
I personally consider KB's the plague of EVE. Sharing my data, without my written consent, is unacceptable.
And just because "everybody does it" makes it no better. Yes, this is "only" a game, but (young) people start forming their (RL) habits in games and plays. Start right here, sharpen your sense about your privacy, which is essential for a free society. -- EVEWalletAware - an offline wallet manager |

Oh I do entirely agree with your thoughts on privacy (and probably civil rights in general), I just felt Karbowiak's post was not quite the right target. Apart from the fact that people in this day sadly care little about their privacy ("I've got nothing to hide") in EVE it is slightly different since for e-peen purposes the stance is more of a "I want people to see", and in any case his post was just about an additional service on his website which does not aggravate the privacy problem. --

EVE-Kill gets the data from its own database - all generated from the killmails in it.

I never said i wanted to charge people for the information - but you have to remember, its my servers and my money that pays them for a pretty much free service to alot of people in EVE.
If you dont like the notion of me actually thinking of charging isk for something that i end up having to pay rl money for - then do it yourself. As for the whole sharing of data, everyone using EVSCO, are doing so knowingly that their data is sharable with anyone via the feed or otherwise (Currently we even share the information with a few websites, one of them being Dotlan.)

EVE-Kill is free to use, but if you dont pay in isk we have banners to help pay the servers - but the isk price is so low that anyone can have a board. As for the privacy breach part, if you want privacy with your killmails - run your own killboard with no feeds available. You just have to remember there is always two killmails, and you cant control both.
As for your data, its not - its CCPs :P
Anyway, keep the ideas coming |

Would be awesome, hopefully encouraging others to start doing it too. I mean why not? The kill mails only exists to be viewed right? :)
Privacy wouldn't really be an issue anyway, since you can't force the other guy/guys on your kill mail not to post it on a public killboard.
(On a side note, I can't seem to figure out how to access a evsco feed, they are all blank, for example http://feed.evsco.net/?a=feed&pilot=Induc shows no kill at all, same for every other pilot name I try.)

Privacy....
Thats an interesting term to use when talking about KM's. I guess it could a private event between you and the 40 other ppl that blew you up. True only one of them is going to "get" the mail, but they are all on it. Privacy...ridiculous.
Anyway, I think having a nice dump would be awesome for those who enjoy number crunching (dont we all, I mean we play EVE dont we ). What I dont get though is if you are already providing the RSS feeds, then what is the use of the dump?
