Edited by: Estrelita Nobunaga on 11/09/2010 01:44:06 I'll admit this is a bit of a troll, but I'd like to hear from the 'loyal opposition' for a change.
What's up with the latest generation of griefers? Where did they come from and why didn't they stay there?
First, after 7 months without a war dec, two of my corps were war deced by one corp, and one of the two was also war deced by another corp. So a week goes by and all three war decs are retracted. One of my people saw two of their people once. What's up with that? Did they expect me to parade my miners in their mining ships out of station like ducks in a shooting gallery, to give their 'lives' for the honor of the corp?
Some low sec pirates ganked one of my people. (Herded her into a Planet camp.) Irked me a little, so I had some of my people go hang out on their systems for about 10 days. Not waving the cape in front of the bull, but just kind of hanging out in chat. Guess what I found out? They're using newbie alts in cheap ships to parade through the system, and they occasionally gank one, apparently to get an entry on a killboard. I think that's disgraceful. The people who have 'killed' my people earned those kills. They didn't manufacture them for other people's consumption.
What's up with can flippers? Bill Tuesday is persistent, but not too innovative. (or successful) Other than that, all I can say is that the only decent can flipper I've run into this YEAR was Mordo Mordaeus, in Raussinen, and it appears that his karma has taken him off into new and different paths. Aren't there any schools for can flippers? The ones I've run into lately just seem to slink off after I pop my own empty can.
CCP must be tearing their hair out. They seem to be pushing hard to make Eve into a less forgiving environment, but it looks to me like the raw material they are getting isn't up to the challenge.
"Yea, though I slink through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, because the griefers are incompetent."
Edit: Changed 'walk' to 'slink' in last paragraph.

CCP has driven out the old-school pirates and replaced them with young, degenerate teenagers with ADD and AK47s that just don't know how the game is played. Why, just the other day I jumped through the Amamake gate and got a brief glimpse of the lowlife scum that now inhabit the edges of known civilization before I flew off to manage my Spaceville colonies. I, for one, welcome our new zombie overlords. |

If it makes you feel any better we war decced a corp here and are into week two of the war dec and soon entering week 3. We have destroyed their most expensive ships and taken their loot and they are now forced to fly frigates against us. We proceed to destroy said frigates and then add salt to the wound by reminding them of their inadequacy at PvP and other things. We basically make it as personal as possible. Oh and they're still war decced.
How's that for griefing?

Well, I'm glad to hear that there is at least one griefer corp that is still maintaining the expected high standards.
Only one comment. Telling a miner that he is a poor PvPer is a compliment. That's not what you intended, is it?

Negative. It is not. We shall revise our strategy. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Here's your answer OP. Pathetic individuals that believe winning a war and being a douche equals griefing. Like people that think replying to every post with 'u mad?' is trolling.
It hurts my soul to watch these idiots disgrace the good name of griefers everywhere.

The conversation has been civilized so far. Let's keep it that way. Nor more personal attacks, or posts that have no meaningful comment.
I had really expected more replies. I'm really interested in how the people on the other side of the fence see this problem, or of they even see it as a problem.

I should report you for cluttering up our fine establishment, but I'll be gentle (since it's early morning and I just got my coffee, mmm mmmm). So; your post is not a 'bit of a troll', it's an ill-disguised whine. - I'd tell you why but then I'll have to kill you. And to kill you I'd have to log in. And to log in I'd have to stop browsing these forums. Both you and me knows that'll never happen. |

A whine? Complaints about poor quality griefers from a miner is a whine? IMHO, you haven't had enough coffee yet.
But wait! This just in from a correspondent in Geras.
Some Nimrod fired one shot at a mining Velator from out of range. Is this a poorly disguised attempt to lower his sec status, so he can hang with the big boys, without worrying about retaliation?
This is a true story although it may sound stranger than fiction. I was the one fired at. I didn't get the name of the Rupture pilot, but he knows who he is.

I purposefully got smartbombed by an officer-fit Paladin and made >8 bil in loot, and a week later I killed 3 Kronoses in 24 hours. I'm new to the griefer scene.
Some other griefers suicided a 30-bil Paladin.

I think the reason there are fewer quality griefers... is because the most effective grief wouldn't really affect anyone that much anymore. Eve has become hardened, prepared for the worst its players can throw at it.
I mean... five years ago my corpmates managed to put a guy in therapy with a heist that by today's standards is embarassingly tiny. Today, if you knock over an alliance's hangars, take all their assets... what happens?
gg, good heist, they go to empire for a day or two maybe, sign some naps, run some complexes, and they're back in ship-shape. No threats to find me and murder me, no months-long stalking campaigns, nothing fun.
Losses don't really matter when they can be recouped so quickly. You can't really hurt people in Eve anymore. Not enough.

To the OP, I think the griefers are still around, but theres an influx of vocal wannabes trying to emulate the big scams/heists of old, and also players are now more aware of the vulnerabilities of the system. Theres only so many ways to 'get' people, and when overused these methods become widely known.
Depending on the motivation, the victims of good griefers may not even know they were griefed, or at least how or who, unless the griefers are doing it specifically for the fanmail.
