Hi all!
Lets read the description of one of the compensations skills;
To active shield hardeners: 3% bonus per skill level to Shield EM resistance when the modules are not active To passive shield hardeners: 5% bonus per skill level to Shield EM resistance
So its says that for each skill level it will ad 5% bonus to your Resist Amplifiers modules and 3% for your Active hards when they are not active. But, while playing with the EFT it says that i get only 1,5% with lvl 5 (at level 4 atm). So, how can this be possible? its 5% from the 45% that the module right? that is 2.25%?
Anyway, in which situations its worth it to get this kind of skills to lvl5? Missioning? Pvp?

In pvp, both are useful at V, though armor comps are definitely more critical for armor tanked ships due to passive enams.
In pve, most shield tanked ships will use active hardeners, so you could leave them at IV if you wanted to save a few weeks on a mission runner alt.

All tank related skills should be at 5. All weapon related skills should be at 5. How you want to go about getting there is up to you, but you need 5 on all of them. SCHALAC HAS SPOKEN |

Meh. Overrated. If you lose your invuln in PvP you're in trouble nomatter what and if you lose your active hardeners in PvE you're definitely doing it wrong.
Armor comps? Sure. Take em all to 5 if that's you're thing. But unless you're running L5s in a fully passive shield tank the shield comps just don't add much. (Now, if you are running fully passive shield tanks on a regular basis, well, hopefully you can figure out the answer for yourself.)

Resistances are quite complicated to calculate; I'd do the calculation as it applies but unfortunately I don't have enough information (current resists, the module(s) your applying, and the skill level are needed). I've explained how these skills work here, perhaps that makes clear how it works.

EM Shield Compensation 0: -37.5% EM Shield Compensation 1: -39.375% EM Shield Compensation 2: -41.25% EM Shield Compensation 3: -43.125% EM Shield Compensation 4: -45% EM Shield Compensation 5: -46.875%
Definitely worth training to level 4. Train to level 5 if you use them a lot, or like 15% on inactive hardeners (after being neuted). EM is probably more important than the others.

I use an sentry Ishtar a lot for mission-running. Sentry damage rigs really nerf the CPU so I trained kin/therm Armor comp skills to V and I use relatively cheap A-type resistance plates:
Level 1 - 37% Level 2 - 38.77% Level 3 - 40.5% Level 4 - 42.3% Level 5 - 44.06%
I'd say, don't train them until you find a need for them. But I guess I'm being pretty obvious

Thanks all for the replys, i guess that every +% can give us the edge in pvp..
I wil check that thread, it might be good to get at least the EM one to lvl5 since i run around with caldari ships.
