Edited by: Illyrinia on 14/09/2010 20:12:26 Edited by: Illyrinia on 14/09/2010 20:08:00 I dont know if its been brought up before or not but i would like to see the ability to train multiple toon on the same account. Even if i had to pay more for my subscription it would be something i would like to have. Or Say, instead of buying a month sub for the account the plex/gtc whatever is applied to the Charater itself not the actual account which would allow the extra character the ability to train skills.
example - you already paying for your monthly sub and have a character already training on it. but you want to train some skills on your second character without interupting you mains skill queue. I buy a plex and apply it to the alt character for a months of skill training.
secondly i know this has been brought up before. but with last patch haven the ability to allocate skills from a skill pool. i would like to see the ability of re-allocating skills already learned that you no longer use/want whatever the case maybe.

also to the training multiple toons. It gives people an incentive to purchase multiple accounts.

As stated before, you can pay for a second account and double box.
I would add this--in what other p2p MMO ^can^ you train 2 characters at once legally and without double boxing? If anything it might be a good idea to make a change so that switching characters that are training can be done just by clicking apply in the queue of the one you want to train, dialogue box to confirm stopping the other character and done rather than needing to log in with both characters to switch, much like character switching on any more mundane MMO.

Agreed.
Plus my character is not a toon, it's either a character or a char.

ccp doesnt allow you to train multiple characters on the same account because 90%+ of eve would play on their main while training the others to either sell or spec 1 and train the other to sell making billions of isk with no real effort all while playing their main and would probably drop the as is price on buying a preskilled character cheap in the long run and would take more money out away from ccp's efforts since they introduced the plex cards which in the long run makes more people play to continue buying plex cards.

i dont think anyone read past the topic of this post ... Im NOT talking about being able to train 3 toons on 1 account for free. im talking about buying extra subs for alts on the same account so they can skill train.

Buy an "extra sub" (mhhm I'm hungry). Train second alt. Profit?
I don't get what you mean... if you are okay with paying for a second account, is there any benefit at all in having the two characters on the same account? And if they are already on the same account, a transfer costs $20 or what. ___________ EVE is dying! Now for real! |

Well atm i have 2 characters on the same account. but i want to train them both at the same time. So why not be able to buy another plex for the account(applied as dual skill training) and be able to train both characters for that month.
atm the only thing you can do is stop one of the characters training and switch to the other. ccp MAKES money allowing this and lets ppl like myself train 2 characters on 1 account at the same time. and after the month is over it goes back to 1 character training on the account.

1) Create a trial account. 2) Apply PLEX to said account. 3) Transfer char #2 to the new account. 4) Train both characters as long as necessary. 5) (optional) Transfer the character back to your main account. 6) (optional) Close your second account. ___________ EVE is dying! Now for real! |

Which is exactly my point.... thats the only way to do it atm and personally i would never do. So thats where my suggestion comes in allow ppl to train on the one account using the method i suggested. Would also give plexs another use in the game. Is this really too hard for ppl to understand ?

If you really want to train 2 toons, having the second account is a BETTER option. It gives you the ability to duel-box.
I think that having 2 toons on 1 account, and having multiple billings on that account, might cause some kind of billing nightmare . Or be more costly in the end. Just like everything else in life...options usualy cost extra.

True if you want to train a second character non-stop sure get another account. But all i want is the ability to train a second char for a month or 2 so he can fly somethin useful and dont want to stop my mains training to do so.

Gotcha now - here's something new. If you buy a second account you need to pay for it too if you want to fly it. But if you have a second char on same account, you train it and then it's always available even not paying for it.
Hint: get trial, upgrade it to second account, train it, pay for transfer to your current account, forget about trial.

It took me 3 goes, but I managed to read that without pausing for breath. Punctuation is your friend. .
Your logic doesn't stand. You can do this anyway (play on a main while training an alt) and all that's being suggested is to be able to pay for the privilege of training the alt on the same account.
To the OP. I agree, it would be nice and I can't see how it would change anything for CCP as they'd get their money in any respect, but as has been said - what's the difference between just getting a plex for a trial account and training that one up as you wished, instead of having it on the same account? In fact I reckon it would make your life easier! It would be awesome if you could switch training between characters from one interface though - not going to happen unless you still have to log in so what's the point? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is one main reason for CCP not allowing this and you have all missed it.
CCP run a business and a big part of running this MMO are stats.
If CCP allows you to pay extra to train on one account, that means less subscriber stats. Sure they could fudge the figures in some way, to show extra payments, but that wouldn't wash with many stat sites.
Subscriber numbers are used by many to show just how well an MMO is doing, this idea would be bad in that respect.

And bloating the numbers means what? Nothing to me personally, its just one person with 1x account or 2x/3x/4x accounts. And if that person leaves EVE, its 1x account or 2x/3x/4x accounts that gets canceled. EVE's numbers have barely changed in my opinion; 42k average year round, drops to about 24k at the bottom during late timezones and might push upwards of 45k during the weekend (62k accounts active during tournements is just a server benchmark test). EVE is very time instensive, when I am waiting out a 3+ week skill for the infinitive time yet again I would love to just let that toon train and log in an alt to distract me which I can do in any other MMO. Except I need to have more then one account get another character anywhere in EVE (multiple billing info for the accounts is annoying) and I don't like buying another toon, its like wearing someone else's dirty underwear thats been passed around several times without being washed. If CCP had a program that sold a block of time for a second character to train I purchase it, even if that toon was locked to the account.

So have other games like EverQuest and World of Warcraft allow your other "toons" on the same account to gain experience while not actually being in (playing) the game?
I stopped playing EverQuest years ago - my characters must all be maxed out by now just idling in the Plane of Knowledge...

Well the comparison is rather flawed as you, unlike EVE, can determine your own training speed in other mmorpgs; it's very common to have 2-8 fully trained characters (many people have 1 of each class) on one account. While "fully trained" in EVE doesn't even exist as it takes 25+ years to get there.
For the same reason it's very uncommon for people to have more than 1 account in any other game than EVE where most people have 2-5 accounts.

Edited by: Nikolai Kondratiev on 20/09/2010 11:24:48 Most people don't have multiple accounts on EQ/WoW/... because every 6 months-1 year you have to pay again for add-ons and for each account. Also they can't pay for a few accounts with ingame money. Also most of those games let you grind for combat & crafting on the same char (and sometimes require the crafting char to also be max combat level to be efficient)
And they still have to spend twice the time levelling (and redo it at every addon) and twice the time grinding dungeon/raids/pvp instances if availaible... to get their stuff (and redo it at every new tier of epic items released) if they want to have 2 usable chars.
And you can easily get some basic alts in 1-3 weeks on Eve, with the double training time, which shouldn't slow down the main char that much. _________________ WTS POS BPOs |

Being allowed to use PLEX to train more than 1 toon at a time would be useful and wouldn't hurt anything IMO. Ignore the elitist "eve is a harsh world we won't support any change that will actually make things more convenient for players!!1" crowd.
