An open letter to my friends in ONE:
I joined the Plexus Syndicate a couple of months ago and at first they seemed like a really good group of guys. The leaders were friendly and enthusiastic. The alliance they were part of had big goals. Mostly they offered to teach new pilots like myself things about Eve that would take me months to learn on my own. The motto of our alliance was ôWe are ONE.ö This is a play off of our alliance name ôOrder of New Edenö as well as the philosophy that governed us. It was supposed to be about unity and helping each other out. It was supposed to be about being true to our ideals. It was supposed to be about standing up for every pilot.
A few weeks ago everything began to change after an elite pvp group declared war against us over some past wrongs. Alsandair Thraushtin sent us the following message that I think he meant to inspire us with:
Quote:
War Dec #2 From: Alsandair Thraushtin To: The Plexus Syndicate [TPXS] This is your first real war newbies so get your kill face on. Corp dec'd us is: Handsome Millionaire Playboys
Orders: 1. All Light Pilots are to relocate to Ashi. Do it now. Once there stay put and stfu on location. 2. Keep LOCAL UP AT ALL TIMES! 3. BE AWARE! 4. All Twilight Members Remain in Cat. 5. All Darkness pilots Remain in Orvolle. 6. Collect names of pilots and add ALL pilots to watch list. 7. ALL FLEETS NEED ADVERTED; AN FC; AND VOICE! 8. Don't be stupid... fly smart.
These guys are an alt corp of a major power block and an entity of an empire builder. We have been war dec'd by them in the past. They will smack in local. They will be aggressive. They will kill most of you. Their end goal will be to take the entire Alliance morale down to zero and the corp numbers as well. Place strategic Jump Clones with PvP ships in places near our bases. Wakey Wakey Darkness...
We Are One, Alsandair Thraushtin Pimp Sauce
I was amused(?) about the part where he said that they would kill most of us. I can understand keeping it real, but he essentially came out and said, "We have no hope of survival, now get out there and fight!" So I did. So did others. We were scared, but a few of us would undock and try to kill the ships camping us into station. The Playboys never shut up in local, but we tried to hold discipline. The funny thing was that when our pilots would undock to fight the Playboys encouraged us and gave advice on what we could do better while the pilots of ONE *****ed us out when we would lose ships. I even heard that some of the Playboys were giving some of our pilots who lost ships money to reimburse the loss if they fought bravely. I don't understand this, but in spite of the trash talking in local these guys seemed like they were mostly looking for a fight. ItÆs a game right? I wanted to fight too. Even though I am new to the game I tried to get others to fight with me. A few of you would and we had some successes. Others grew bored because they were stuck in station while our leader hid in low sec telling us that he was trying to lead the enemy away and not to worry because he was making plenty of money with his trading alt. He sent us the following email:

Quote: Epic War (sarcasm) lulz From: Alsandair Thraushtin To: The Plexus Syndicate [TPXS] While our war targets have been smacking local and our pilots handling themselves nicely I have been in the hottest sections of low sec during the entire War waiting for them to come for me so I can lead em all over hell and back again lol. If they want me they are going to have to come hunt for me. In the meantime keep hitting em soldiers. Doin a great job ;) If they want me I'll make sure they got to work for it. I haven't seen one of the puxxies yet in local and I know they know how to find me. They want an audience so they are blabbing it up in local in orvolle for two reasons. One: to **** you or me off which doesnt work for me and most of you and Two: so it raises red flags to others watching. In the end they'll smack themselves into everyone hating them. I suggest going with the policy silence is golden and bore them to fuxxin tears. Bal can only do so much to keep this goin if we arent givin his men what they want. So keep it up all. Doin great ;)
We Are One, Alsandair
(Great to know you are doing so well Alsandair. It would be nice to have you helping us figure out how to fight these guys.)
We began to lose pilots. Some of them were really good people that didn't like war and just wanted to mine and do their own thing. That is what most everyone in Plexus was when I first joined up. I was inspired by the idea of protecting them. Rather than show understanding and welcome them back when things cooled down though they were treated like they were worse than our enemies.
Here are a couple more of Alsandair's inspiring emails:
Quote: Cloudy Continues to Show Promise as FC From: Alsandair Thraushtin To: The Darkness Division I heard of the fight you had Cloudy. Great work. Had multiple people mail me about them thinking you did a fantastic job for being so new. Remember just fly straight and don't let the head get big. Focus on blood and how to fuxxin drain them of all of it while making it hurt as much as possible.
The Darkness pilots is about you being killers. Trained professional killers.
Cloudy sets a good example of someone who is willing to lead a team of killers to fully learn the craftsmanship of death and destruction. There is great satisfaction from destroying those who stand against you. You will only become a pvp'er when you have flown and felt the confidence in knowing that those who oppose you will be floating corpses in your overview.
Darkness attendance is pathetic and most of you will be booted in time for your lack of contributing anything to the whole. Most of you in Darkness make me sick. There are a few doing a fantastic job and you know who you are. The rest I suggest save me the effort of booting you and leave. We don't need you.
We Are One, Alsandair Thraushtin
Okay, it starts off kind of inspirational then he goes on to talk about us being trained professional killers. Who is doing the training? Who is even undocking, but those of us who have only played for a couple of months? I've received more 'TRAINING' from Playboys in private conversations than I have from my own leadership. Then towards the end of the email he tells us that we disgust him and that we'll probably be booted in the next few days so we might as well quit. He has the audacity to close with "We are ONE".

His next email targets the people who are leaving:
Quote: LuLz & War From: Alsandair Thraushtin To: The Plexus Syndicate [TPXS] Fellas seriously... this war is not really even worthy of being called a war. People leaving over this is quite laughable. Honestly its not been a week yet and this could go on months. People either can handle it or not. Those that leave really shouldn't play EvE. This is because anything worth becoming a Power Block is ALWAYS in a fuxxin war dec and likely multiple war decs lol. If you can't navigate EvE through war time and have fun, this game is not for you... You've already lost EvE.
As I have said before, we will lose 1/3rd of or membership due to this. This is normal. We will most likely lose a bit more because of Gen leaving. Her fan club will leave as well. We also will have spotty activity at best because of this. I will continue to make this my home and will not run out on all of you like those who have just done so, saying they were down when they really weren't. It sucks when people leave who you get attached to, but honestly it's happened to me so much in EvE I don't even let it phase me anymore.
Many more of you will leave. This is the way EvE seperates the men from the boys. What do you stand for? Are you in this to be entertained or are you really about the whole? Do you understand our philosophy We Are One? Or do you just say it and leave when you become tested? For everyone of you who leaves there will be 10 more I will recruit in time. This is what I do. I'm an empire builder. I am not concerned one bit. Realize when you leave, especially in a war environment, I most likely will not be bringing you back into ONE. Leaving during a war is probably one of the most cowardly, disgusting things a pilot can do. Especially those who say they are down for the corp. Those who do have proved themselves to the whole as to what they are about.
You see I love these phases. It makes my job easier. It shows me whose worth it and whose not. It's a natural filter. This war... it's all in your heads. For some of you. Others are treating it pro. I notice you. I dig those types of pilots. But, I absolutely love these phases. These "hard" phases (lol because this is simple sauce), are natural filters for getting out those who can't handle the EvE I know. In fact not only these wars "hard" times, but this very corp is designed as a filter. I make them that way to make my job easier.
Many of you who know what I'm about, know that I will continue onward regardless. I will recruit again harcore once this is over. It's not a big deal to me if this war is 1 week or 1 year. I run a ton of **** and almost everything I own is under constant war dec. You deal with it or you don't. Your pro or your fail. Don't let the drama over take you. Seriously if it does, get the fuxx out of my corp. lol.
By the way this is my home... I intend to stay forever through good and bad. I'm no fair weather friend. By the way Gerin high-larious news cover on the site :) We Are One, Alsandair Thraushtin
The message that I took away from this is that the war that has been killing my friends is insignificant and so are we. That the individuals don't mean anything because he can recruit 10 more to replace us. He then tells us that he doesn't care how long the war goes on because he has other interests. What the Playboys say is starting to make sense. Alsandair is starting to look like someone who gives not a damn for his corp and alliance mates for any other reason than what they can do for him. He doesn't defend us, he ridicules us. He threatens us more than he encourages us. Alsandair is not the leader that I am interested in following.

I'm a fighter though and intend to stick by my friends as long as I have friends in danger. I truly believed the "We are ONE" rhetoric. It is a shame that our leader only sees it as words meant to inspire our loyalty.
Obviously this is my alt as I want to keep helping my friends as long as possible, but I will check my eve mail as often as I can should anyone have any questions or comments,

People who aspire to power and people who have true merit of leadership are quite often not the same person. Ihve seen plenty of CEOs who just plain sucked, they started a corp because they wanted power or to build an empire or whatever. They lacked true merit and so when things started turning rough their utter imcompetence was suddenly in plain sight.
This guy seems to have a lot of big words and it sounds like that has helped him build what he has but it also sounds like hes an incompetant and selfimportant prick. My advice, if you like the people in your corp, find someone in it whose been taking intiative and responsability, true leaders often arise in war. Form a new corp with that person as CEO. Case closed. :)

Edited by: Dikat on 16/09/2010 19:23:50 Speaking as one of your oppressors, I must say that I find the posts from your illustrious leadership both funny and saddening. I'm honestly sorry on behalf of my corporation that you have to follow such a tool (well I guess you don't have to, but you choose to). We at the Playboys don't bear any of you Plexus guys ill will. In fact we think we're doing you a favour by exposing the true colours of your leadership and I'm sure in time, you'll agree. I'm not even being facetious by saying that. Our reasons for declaring war on Plexus was explained to me more than once but honestly, I was only half listening. I, and pretty much all of the Playboys, don't care what our reasons were. Not because we are so hardcore and awesome, but because Eve is a game and we like to shoot people.
As for Alsandair hiding in "the hottest part of lowsec"...we know where you were Al. For laughs we spotted you in Murethand, 2 jumps from where we were camping your mates. We could have gone after you but you were doing far more damage to your followers by hiding than we would have gained by killing you.
I have no personal interaction with this velveteen guy or Alsandair (beyond his amusing emails below). I can't imagine why anyone would follow him and apparently, the Plexus guys are realizing that themselves. I've never seen so many people bail on a corp after only a few days of being wardecced. Normally I would say that was cowardice but in this case, now that I see the "facts" below, I would say it was good sense. Complaining to your pvp corp that they suck and you'll kick them for being useless when they at least tried? That's just...I don't know what that is.
Chaotic Tranquility joined in the fight about a week later, probably by invitation from Plexus but I honestly don't know, and made this war fun! Thanks guys!
A quick thanks to the few Plexus guys who engaged us. I know a lot of you have left Plexus since but you have the respect of the Playboys (for whatever that's worth).
Final word (unless I feel like posting more): That "spy" you kicked in the first couple of days? He wasn't one of ours! He convoed us after and wasn't too happy about it, particularly since he was innocent. Nice job rooting out the rats!

I don't blame your pilots for leaving. gurk. :(
But now they're in better places! :)
(Velvet, you should find a better place to lay your head. Esp if your head is currently in Orvolle. According to the Plexus website, they appear out of booze. Seems like you need a double to deal with emails like these...)

This thread made my day, thanks for making me check CAOD Dikat!
First, I'll second just about everything Dikat said here.
Second, it seems as if you've discovered for yourselves that all of the things we've been telling you in local are true. Sure we're arrogant and noisy, but I can't think of anytime in which we've tried to deceive any of you. Hopefully you'll gain some silky smooth knowledge from this experience Mr. Velvet.
Now I must continue to be a pawn in the "alt corp of a major power block." Life can be grueling in the "entity of an empire builder!"

welcome to EVE
thats what most CEO tells you to do , bore the attacker to death and they'll go away in a week.
True the CEO being an ass, but he survived a lot of wardeccs , and tbh with a bunch carebears/miners as soldiers, its gonna be a slaughter not a fight , i can understand his attitude, but it doesn't give him right to do so, at least help the folks get their first pvp experience , a bit of knowledge about fits etc ... but in this case the ceo is even clueless than most his corporates. Most Highsec wardeccers are carebears if you blob them (and i dont think nubs blob counts as blob)or even bring equal numbers they wont fight , even a 1v1 never happens , there is alawys a neutral remote repper nearby, or one of his corp mates a couple jumps away, good luck trying to fight that.

In short, your CEO is an idiot.
All that talk is just "Look at me i'm really cool and tough and you are all nublets". If i was hired to demoralize you, i dont think i could do a better job than him. True that eve involves lots of dying before you get the hang of stuff, but there are better ways to say it.

Your better off finding a corp that is more pvp based. Many pvp corps like having industrialists who are willing to pvp. You shouldn't have a problem finding a better corp, or forming a better one with your friends from your current corp. _____ Where am I? Who are you? and where is my horse? |

If you are paying corp tax towards this sort of leadership and getting nothing in return I would suggest you find a different place to call home along with your wingmen. Your loller of a CEO probably has an army of alts paid for via plex from taxes you pay...don't be the meal ticket .

Velvet, You have guts speaking out and I hope your friends will actually read this and take heed.
Al and his buddy Gerin/Orik will tell some pretty tall tales and twist the truth around (I guess in their twisted minds they think it will motivate the corp) in order to make themselves look better than they are. I assure you it has, is and will continue to blow up in their faces.
I don't consider myself to be an Elite PvP pilot, although I do appreciate the compliment, but I, like the rest of the playboys like to fight and we will always help out other players if they want it as much as we can. We work together and although we prefer to win we are not afraid to die. I have many deaths under my belt and have learned from each of them.
We have fought some of the toughest PvP groups out there and have won and lost many times but what we don't do is leave our corp mates out to dry. You and your friends (at least the ones with common sense) will be much better off joining another corp or forming your own. There are many individuals and groups out there to help you learn PvP but even if you have to learn it the hard way it will be better than learning from these tools.
One last note for "ONE": you guys might want to consider pitching in a little each and helping AL & Gerin/Orik to up there meds... Having hallucinations and hearing voices can be fun but there are limits.
