Originally by: Machete Visor i'm actually planning a way to help the investors recoup their losses. I think I can earn atleast a portion of it back. Here is the plan:
- I create a new corp and distribute the shares to the investors in the prior bond. - I raise 5B in trading capital at 8% to get me back on my feet. - Any profit about the 8% is distributed as a dividend to the previous investors.
By my calcs, 5B at 8% is about 400M in interest. I should earn 2B-3B a month so there would be 1.6B-2.6B available to start paying back to the 23.6B.
In 1 to 2 years, the full amount would be repaid.

I ran a 5b station trading bond recently. I made 1.25b profit in 4 days after which I got very bored and closed it down early.
This guy had already handled 10b of investors' funds. Why did he need more? Dunno if it's just me but 'expansions' always seem to end in tears. And if you are considering investing remember that station trading, done properly, is VERY profitable. If somebody continually needs more of your isk he's either a scammer or a very poor trader.

Very clearly not planned. I had no idea I would get ganked carrying those valuable commodities through an incursion system. There is no km.

There should be a copy pastable notice in your combat losses thing.
I would love to see it :)
Also, wasn't this a low risk bond? what happen?

Personally I find the idea that you managed to spend every last cent of this 23.6B bond, shoe horn it into a single transport and then lose it unlikely at the very least, if not outrageously ridiculous, especially when you have no killmail to support your assertions, nor have you shown any regret or remorse for this abysmal state of affairs beyond the statement 'I didn't know I was going to be ganked'.
Also for the record interest that was promised for last Sunday never even arrived (nor did I get a reply to my evemail asking why not). Then 2 days later the entire bond vanishes in a puff of smoke?
Then in less than 24 hours you are proposing a further extension to recoup the supposed loses from the original bond? With no evidence or proof whatsoever, nor any suggestion of providing such?
There are methods of course to show your investors that the isk was actually spent on something rather than still in your wallet or transferred to another character. Its called a full api key, and a trusted third party (eg RAW or VV could easily ascertain whether the isk was spent or sent elsewhere as a retirement fund.
Perhaps you think your investors were so ret***ed to invest in you that we are good for another 5B? Really?
For my part I can take the 2.5B I lost in you on the chin, it is regrettable of course but I can deal with it. I certainly wont be gambling any more on the off chance you are telling the truth though.
For my part when I saw your post when I woke up this morning I was like, "figures, he didnt pay my first weeks interest and anyway if I am all about investing my isk it stands to reason I will be scammed at some point - if nothing else a lesson learnt" I certainly wasnt going to post here QQing about the loss to feed the trolls.
But now you are asking for more isk? Without any proof whatsoever that the incident you maintain happened actually happened? Without any assurance that you plan to petition the lack of a kill mail, or offer of an API key to prove the isk was spent rather than scammed?
Are you f***ing re***ded or do you just think anyone who invests in you is?
edit f***ing old forums are crap, wont let me post

I'd love to be proved wrong but I ain't gonna gamble any more on the off chance.
Truthfully, I am only trying to help. As i said, its a tragic situation for everyone. My reputation is ruined. Your money is gone. Stuffing 23.6B in a transport actually isn't all that hard.
Are you sure you don't want in? You'll earn more (8% interest + profits).

Machete, you haven't provided any proof that you were ganked, nor have you offered full key to any auditor to verify that it indeed was lost.
At this point, nobody trusts you until you provide the said proof.
You can start with providing the name of the alt who was doing the hauling.

I've only skimmed through this thread so excuse me if I have something wrong..... you took 23.6 billion of other peoples ISK, put it all in a transport and got blown up? Now you want another 5 billion so you can repay them all in 1-2 years??
Is that right? No, surely I've missed something... if not then I'm speechless but you've got balls to even ask I'll give you that.

So you were afk auto piloting in a viator with about 65 plexes on board? You could copy/paste the loss from your character sheet easy enough.

Quite obviously MV has not lost 26B in a high-sec gank. He probably got bored trading, or annoyed at how much he was giving away in interest, so decided to stop.

Originally by: Machete Visor there is no operational risk with this (as history has proven out). There is only scam risk.
Thus, the killmail will never show up as it does not exist. MV reputation grinded until he reached his sell out number and poof. Asking for 5 billion more is his way of being especially ignorant.

I don't think he was seriously asking for another 5b. I think that was just his way of rubbing it in.

Sometimes, especially if the system is lagged out (but not always) a loss mail doesn't show up the combat log, nor get pulled via the API (its happened to me a number of times); hence my suggestion that he prove he hasnt just kept / transferred the isk elsewhere by allowing a 3rd party to confirm he actually spent the isk on goods. A weak way to confirm his story, but better than nothing in the absence of a loss mail.
Strange how he completely ignored that part of my post...

Yeah I think the way he wrote his last past really confirmed that for me, especially the bolded bit.

Future scammers make note: loudly proclaiming the virtues of your own integrity all the while attacking other bond runners is a sure fire tactic to securing your 5 year plex pension plan. --- RL Meeting w/ Chribba

Originally by: Machete Visor audits do reduce the rate of scams... but not in the way being described here (of course, i skipped 5 pages, so maybe it is).
Running a ponzi, like any other economic enterprise, has an opportunity cost. Notice how all ponzi build over time? We've yet to see anyone do 5B up front and walk away with it. It is always 1b, 5b, 10b, 100b...
Regular audits will slow down the growth rate of the ponzi, or in some cases, completely stop it.
Hence, regular auditing increases the length of time a ponzi master must run his/her ponzi to achieve some threshhold of X ISK.
Since there is an opportunity cost, an economically minded player will compare that amount of time with other legitimate enterprises and make a game play decision.
Lots of audits = running missions may be more profitable. Few audits = bring on the MD posts.
I always watch the number of obvious scams being posted on this forum as an indicator of the relative profitability (or lack of audits).
Hmm, I'm thinking of handing this person billions of isk. Hmm, he refuses and audit. Maybe I should eve-search him? Hmmm, he said audits are important to impede scams, and yet now he is asking for much more capital and refusing audits. Hmm, other forum posters are saying his business plan is bunk, and he is not refuting them. Hmmmmmmm.

I cannot imagine how this guy raised the additional capital. How people could send this dude 3b isk lots without a simple eve-search on his name. It is boggling.
