I just got a Retriever, I was wondering the following things:
1. Would it be better ISK/hr mining veld or ice? 2. What should I fit to mine whichever one?
I'm also solo mining with no fleet buffs or anything, please post if you need additional information. I just want the best yield of ISK/hr currently, if there are some skills that take about a day to train to improve this, please tell me.

Edited by: Emporer Norton on 18/09/2010 05:01:27 Ore is usually about double what you get from ice but ice can be done more afk also if mining for isk need to check and see which ore is best it fluctuates some I think kernite is best highsec ore atm but could be wrong 0.0 goes arkonor then bistot then crokite

I'm not sure where I can find a belt with Kernite near high sec.
So are you saying doing common ore is more ISK/hr?

My condolences.

Neither. Try Plagioclase. Also, it constantly changes based on how mineral prices evolve, and they don't evolve identically across regions (even if they're relatively close). Or better still, give up mining, sell the barge, buy a Caracaland just try L2 (then buy a Drake and go for L3) combat missions, you'll most likely make more ISK/hour than mining in a Hulk (even with minimal combat skills and next to no experience running missions beforehand).

Heres some high sec ore info for you. Hope it helps.
1.0 system belts contain asteroids with Veldspar or Scordite only.
0.9 - 0.8 system belts in Gallente and Minmatar regions also contain Plagioclase while systems in Amarr and Caldari regions also contain Pyroxeres.
0.7 - 0.5 system belts in Amarr space contain Kernite, in Caldari space they contain Plagioclase, in Gallente and Minmatar space they contain Omber. Ice belts may be found in these systems as well.

Keep in mind that the lower the secstatus, the nicer the ore (and nastier the rats).
This is also true for hisec systems, a .46 system is most likely to contain the best ore you can find in hisec.
But it's still pale compared to gravsites or lo/null-sec

Mr. JLei,
First, I would like to say congrats on the new ship but I would have to agree with post 4, I have been on EVE a long time and I have max skills for minning. Missions always give more ISK per hour then minning. If you grind level four missions vs minning, missions will always win. My best answer for you is get a Drake/Maurader of race you doing missions for/Or a T-3 and you can make lots of ISK this way and never have to worry about market prices for selling ORE. I hope this answers all your questions.
Very Respectfully, Drevinbro

You have to scan them down. I mine in a remote cluster of .5 systems and i regularly find jaspet, kernite, and omber in hidden belts. EVEntually |

What other posters say, a L3 mission will beat every mining in highsec, even in a maxed out hulk.
But anyway if you mine than:
Be aware that a retriever is a paper thin vessel. What makes it worse is that you cannot tank it properly. So all you can do is jetcan-mine, fit a MLU (i donŠt think you can fit 2 MLUŠs) a cargo expander and a rock scanner in the mid. Strip miners in the highs. You will need 5 light drones to fight the belt rats.
DonŠt go ice. Ice fields are gank magnets and your retriever will be the first ship that goes boom. Mex is better isk/hr than ice. Depending on your location, go for kernite or plagioclase.
Get refining 5, refinery efficiency 3 and (ore)processing 3 for perfect refining at a high sec station.
Wait for mexallon to plummet next to find out that mining veldspar is useless isk/hr wise.
Good luck!

You want to take a look at these: Where to find which ore. What each ore breaks down into. If you are not sure yet about which ore to mine then mine an entire ship load full of each type and sell it. See which pays the most, refined and unrefined. Then go for what pays you the most. You can then start looking for the best buyers on the market and mine in their system or near them. The differences in income it makes in finding a good mining system can be as much as 50%-100%. --
