Edited by: Alexila Quant on 19/09/2010 14:15:05 With this new EPIC update I haven't had much of a chance to do anything but the first thing I noticed (Before I even logged in) was that when I try to center the Eve window on a monitor it wouldn't center for some reason, always resized and my resolution changed to 1024x768. Didn't understand it so I flitted with it for a bit and then noticed as i moused over the edge of the window a little arrow cursor appear. I was filled with delight when i saw this. I then preceded to drag the Eve window across both of my monitors. This in itself was the most awesome thing I've seen yet. BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! My account was deactivated for some reason so i had to wait a day or so and what with the downtime and all. So i came on this morning exited to play with eve sucking up both my monitors in all it's glory. Then I noticed that the ship was centered between both my monitors sliced in two neat halves. I figured, hey thats a decent trade off for more readout space. But then, I turned to the graphics section and noticed this: http://img.techpowerup.org/100919/Capture008.jpg I thought, it couldn't be!? Ah but it was. As i changed that little slider my ship moved away from that horrible knife that was the center of my two monitors in the its own monitor!
Anyway, hope you enjoyed my silly little nerdgasm. The gist of it is that you can now do this:

with two monitors and not have your ship sliced in half. LOVE IT!

Now if they'd only add the option of having the window borderless and also add an option to align the window automatically to a corner of some screen and I will love them even more.

What would be cool would be to have an option to move the center of view up and down too... move up to get some more space between the center and the dial; like get the locked targets there and still see the messages / warnings / ECM-counters, while still getting some general view of space around your ship (the center of view).
More UI customization options would rule! :) -- "Entering MH means instant death. It's worse than 0.0. Even the asteroids shoot back." - Alex Harumichi [GRD]

First time i whish i had a 3rd monitor...yummy, maybe its time.
But even if not, putting all the chat-windows and stuff on one monitor is sweet. It would be even sweeter if the UI would be able to "undock" form the client so you don't have to render the 3D on 2+ monitors.

Not having 2 screens I cannot experiment with this great new feature at the moment, but maybe someone can try this...
How about one screen above the other, with all the info data on the lower screen and the view on top?
I figure if you already have a wide monitor you might get more benefit from more vertical space then more horizontal...
But what a great feature!!!! this would make me get a second screen once it goes live! Squeaks |
