my in game browser doesn't seem to work at all. It makes eve hang when i open it. I have to go into system monitor to shut the process down to get eve working again. Are there any tricks to making it work or am I just doing it wrong?
I'm running Ubuntu 9.04 with wine 1.2. Eve runs great with exception to the IGB and the jukebox.

Try changing your home page from the default which uses https to http://www.eveonline.com instead. HTTPS doesn't work for me in the IGB.

Edited by: Kaliba Mort on 24/09/2010 04:38:49 I run Wine 1.3.2 atm so can't say. IGB is very slow, but usable.
Unless Ubuntu fixed packages they get from Debian, then your wine most likely doesn't have browser support built in.
The bug for the error you see is at, http://bugs.debian.org/479861

Edited by: Augustus Ogana on 21/10/2010 00:11:04 Bump. Exact same issue: IGB hangs EVE the instant I activate it.
Click browser button: Client hang. Right click news billboard and Read News: Client hang. Search help knowledge base: Client hang.
Sometimes I can kill the newly-launched ExeFile.exe process and my game client will resume working fine. At that point, a IGB window appears with a black content area, but it's wholly inoperable.
Installing VCRUN2008 had no effect. Repair.exe also fails to run.
Related: How do I view the logfiles generated by Repair.exe?
I'm using Ubuntu with wine1.2.

Try this...
winetricks gecko
or
winetricks ie8
(or ie7/ie6/ie6_full)

Gecko and IE were both already installed to Wine before EVE was, but IGB hangs EVE every time.

Edited by: Laice on 26/10/2010 17:07:03 The IGB no longer uses IE.
I recall from a previous devblog that they were using a chromium mod: http://www.khrona.com/products/awesomium/

Update: With today's patch, I thought I should run from commandline rather than a desktop icon. Once I was satisfied that things were working, I shrugged and clicked the IGB icon. My Linux console said:
Quote: Assertion 'pa_atomic_load(&e->pool->stat.exported_size) >= (int) b->length' failed at pulsecore/memblock.c:1106, function pa_memexport_process_release(). Aborting.

I may quite possibly shut up now, because my IGB works after breaking/uninstalling/reinstalling EVE.

Well, so much for that. Once again, it stopped working after just a few times running EVE.
