I see a lot of recomendations in ship set ups using Cap relays. On the face of it the BPD looks a better option. Granted you get less cap recharge rate bonus but that's got to be countered by Sheild HP/recharge rate, power grid bonus and cap bonus? Has anyone got any sums that can clear things up?

Edited by: Rod Blaine on 31/12/2004 12:04:13 shieldrecharge rate sucks unless oyu go all the way with it, shield HP's are only usable once, CAP is LIFE on any BS
Oh, and if it says "basic", dont use it,
Power diagnostic unit I's and II's are actually more widely used on shieldtanks then cap relays. Insofar you are right. _______________________________________________

Edited by: pardux on 31/12/2004 12:05:07 Cap relay's only affects shield boosters(10% less effective with cap relay) and armor tankers dont need shield boosters...
You use cap relays with a armor tank and power diagnostics with a shield tank Fluffy carebear (\_/) (O.o) (> <) This is Bunny. Copy Bunny into your signature to help him on his way to world domination. |

Edited by: ELECTR0FREAK on 31/12/2004 12:06:49 Er, don't use Basic Power Diagnostics. Use Power Diagnostic Unit Is. Use PDS on anything you want to shield tank... that 20% cap recharge is nice except when you're planning on shield tanking a ship. Also, while the PDS has lower numbers, they work together to provide better cap and shield recharge rates than it appears. Thats about all I can suggest for now
edit- PDS are a Raven pilot's best friend. Not worth for a whole lot on an armor tanked setup unless you're desparate for a tiny bit more grid and need some cap bonuses to boot.

Has anyone actually ever tried to calculate how much cap recharge bonus you get out of a PDU when you combine the bonuses? Might be an interesting read.

1xPDUII is roughly equilavent to a 14% cap recharger because of the extra capacity they give

Thanks for the advice guys, especially "if it says basic don't us it"... Would still like to see some sums though if someone is clever enough?

dont diss basic PDUs, they have vastly lower CPU usage compared to any other grid boosting module.
So they are perfect choice when you are out of grid by 1 and about 5 short of CPU :)
