I like having a dedicated hauler, so the Orca doesn't have to dock.
The hauler must be in the same corp as the Orca pilot, so the hauler can empty the corporate hangar.
The hauler just drops the ore at the station at the top of the right-click-in-space list (aka "top station").
At the end of the op, the ore can be transferred to freighters to move it for refining, or the ore can be refined on the spot if 50% facilities and you don't mind a 5% tax loss.
Minerals can be hauled to a station, and contracted to executor, or dropped in a hangar, or hauled to market for sale.

Alternatively - put a pos in system, for pickup later via freighter.

The point would be so the orca doesn't have to leave the belt and can keep the gang links running. if you sat him at a pos he could still have the gang links running, but not providing the in belt support that is useful.

1. Orca in belt, recieving ore. 2. Orca full, warp to pos 3. Orca unload at pos, warp back to belt.
Total time Orca is out of belt - 2-4 minutes. Total time Orca is not boosting - none.
Alternatively, putting a miner in a hauling ship to ferry back and forth from a station to the belt keeps that miner out of the belt the entire op.
Now if you have no-sp newbs running haulers and are just letting them along out of charity, then fine. Otherwise it's just less efficient.

Orca can not operate gang links while in warp.

Edited by: Steve Thomas on 25/09/2010 18:53:23 Reasons to use a hauler to haul in a Orca boosted fleet (best to worst)
1) no place in system to drop ore and the nearest place to drop ore is a ways out and you dont have a second Orca pilot 2) you /they are a moron 3) Its a rat infested belt and you need its drone bay for combat drones because noone has any with them because all they have in there drone bay are mining drones 4) all they fly is a hauler and it dosent have mining lazers. 5) you realy want to keep its mining drones mining!

Troll much? I was just pointing out that Shinde gave bad information. Let me help you find it, since you can't read.

This is false. The orca will not be boosting for those 2-4 minutes out of the belt. It doesn't matter that you're flying to a POS.

my pointbeing that the few min that a orca is out of belt to dump rock will not net you more rock by leaving it in belt and useing a hauler to run back as oposed to haveing said hauler flying a mining frig, oresrpay or any of the mineing barges, unless your runing sutch a large mining op that you need to run in almost constantly

I would have to agree with the majority, plan your warp with the Orca after your lasers start another cycle and jump to your station and restart your boost. You will never lose your range boost this way, additionally you should be able to go into warp the second you start your next cycle and be back and ready to receive before your ôHulkö hold is over flowing. I have been doing this a long time and it is sound advice from players who know what there doing.
Very Respectfully, Drevinbro
