So last night I was sitting looking at the forums, reading and loling as you do and realised that by the end of the year I would of maxed out all my Amarr ship skills up to BS and Paladin level, (as you do).
I have some basic missile skills but none up to cruise missile size.
So by the beginning of the New Year, I want to start training a new race up to BS level.
I plan to use these skills to mission run for the Federation Navy.
As I have never cross-trained since starting this toon, I want peoples ideas on what race to go for next. Remember, I will only be training one race and one race only, so those with experience in all fields that can inject some insight into helping me decide would be great!
Many thanks in advance as always!

Well, remember one thing: In this game, skill/skills are EVErything. So, as you have trained Amarr, you will have more gunnery skills. So either go for Gallente or Minmatar. But in this i cant assist. You will decide as it is your account.
Glad i could help

Depends on what you do and what you might want to get out of your new race. Generally speaking I think you'll find minmatar is the answer in most cases. Although if you're doing this with just pve mission grinding in mind then you'll get more milage out of caldari ships in general. Nightmare is a hell of a lot of fun too.

Well, in terms of what I want to get out of them, I will be running missions for the Federation Navy, so in terms of ships, I'll be training to BS or T3, depending on peoples advice.

If it's for PVE, then yeah Caldari. CNR/Golem/Tengu for most level 4's, Nightmare for missions with EM/thermal rats and you can do pretty much everything efficiently.

If it's for PvE you could also take a look at the Machariel... meant to be a lot of fun.
If you want to do PvP then you probably haven't finished Amarr yet, look into the skills for flying a Curse well ( TDs, Neuts, Shields, Missiles and Drones ) which would keep you occupied for a fair while and also be useful for many other other ships.

I would say if you want to keep it specialist, cross train for the Amarr Faction BS, ie Sansha & Blood Raider (Caldari & Minmatar) and any appropriate support skills (ie shield skills for Sansha)
These faction ships all utilise Energy Turrets as their main DPS.
From there build up your missile skills to enhance your Khanid ship experience.

You haven't mentioned your drone skills either. If they are good you might be considering going Gallente, be aware there are no Amarr/Gallente Faction ships. Mach is awesome but you would need to train Gallente AND Minmatar.
Now this, is a splendid idea, which means I can keep my lasers which I love. The choice will be what ship to aim for as I'm sure it will be skill intensive to get there. |
