I've been out of the game a spell and ended up selling my old main before I left. Looking back on what lead me to burn out last time, I realized I had been trying way too hard to keep grinding the isk needed to fund my expensive pvp habits (mostly battleships). In order to right myself this time around I plan on specializing in frigates so that I can get my jollies on the cheap instead.
That said, a world in which I don't have an expensive BS to farm with is new to me and i'm a little daunted by the prospect of being the small ship in fleet. I still have quite a bit of isk left over from the sale of my old character, around 3 billion, but even with the cheapest possible ships that won't last forever.
My questions are: How cost effective is frigate insurance these days and what's the average price of a t2 fit rifter? Can I expect my nest egg to hold me a while, or should I work out some isk-farming methods? Lastly, are there any worthwhile ways to farm some isk in a frigate or am I better off begging, scamming, and ninja salvaging?

I'm definitely going to loose a fair number of frigs my first few weeks. I haven't played in almost a year and there's quite a bit i've forgotten. Should be interesting to see if any plexes are soloable in my frigates, and perhaps find the upper limit of rat a frig can take out (i'm guessing daredevil can kill just about anything beyond a really tough bs. Although faction bs are way beyond reasonably disposable so i wouldn't be doing much pvp in those until I can find a reliable income source.

I'll be using t2 fit (probably not rigged unless critical for the fit) frigates for the most part. PI sounds awful to me and everyone I know who tried it has since dropped it. As far as plex'ing goes.. if it has to come to that, so be it, but i'd rather just work a little pve into my schedule for the sake of variety if nothing else.

PI isnt that bad actually. I got a 3 planet thing going and i'm turning out about 2 mil a day with 5 min worth of clicking and hauling a day.
That's actually really sad.

Well, i'm having a BLAST in my rifter so far. No kills ofc with my pathetic skills and lack of practice, but just taking something into hull is a neat feeling. I'm beginning to reconsider the every-frigate idea a bit though. If i do indeed move up to a dram/daredev in the next six months to a year ill definitely be flat broke very soon after. But, i'll cross that bridge when I come to it I suppose. Right now im making just enough from picking up wreck bits while roaming to stay relatively positive on income, but that's hit or miss.
