Can we have an update as to what punishment you have taken, on those that exploited this for months please.

Public execution will be on the Reykjavik town square tomorrow followed by the tossing of the bodies into the Eyjafjallaj÷kull. Bring your own stones and eggs unless you want to buy them for inflated prices.

While I can see that being too specific might present its own set of problems I do agree that some sort of announcement of these sort of things in a specific forum might help.
Information about the general nature of the infraction ie:
- sending commands to sever not availbe through UI that prevented charcter being seen in loca
And a rough penalty:
- account was locked for 6 months with additional penalities to players other accounts, or characters involved biomassed or etc.
Basically some idea of what they consider an exploit and some some sense that they have a strong record of protecting the integrity of contextual game assets and/or the general accuracy of combat histories and their relation to thos of other players.

Doubt it.. but so far CCP has never talked much about punishments, except for the 6k? rmt/macro users a year back.
But yeah, I would like to see some kind of 'killboard' for this kind of thing

Edited by: Ghoest on 27/09/2010 15:50:00 Well the most egregious game maleficence in EVEs history resulted in the offending employee being told to stop being bad.
I wouldnt expect a simple exploit that the abusers may have even had permission to use to result in much of a punishment.

Except that the employee also had his characters deleted/account banned, was forced to give a humiliating public apology, and received the greatest amount of negative attention any CCP employee has ever had to deal with.
He most likely kept his job due to contractual reasons. I would suspect that employee contracts now allow for immediate termination for employees who cheat, so this won't be a problem in the future - should it ever happen again.
On a side note, AFAIK T20 is no longer employed at CCP. I would suspect that when his contract expired, it was not renewed.
Of course this is all speculation, but you could hardly accuse CCP of doing *NOTHING* there. ----------

My memory might be failing me but didn't they ban a bunch of people (way after the fact) for the T2 moon exploit that was discovered about 21 months ago? (december 08, IIRC) .

I had much the same thought. By their own admission, they where abusing the hell out of this on sleepers for months. That's a lot of ISK.

Cross-reference the list of who was in the offending alliance with who is currently active and doing stuff in new-eden, if they show some activity obviously CCP did nothing.
Proactive in quality assurance testing CCP? Hasn't looked like it in years. This is just laughable that people still pay you to play this game.

I'm sure they do mind if you asked.. every time a thread was opened up here on eve-o it was promptly edited and locked and warned not to talk about exploits on eve-o forums.
There were threads on it on other eve related forums CCP doesnt control. You might want to search for them. I would add some links but I'm sure they would get editted out of my post in a quick manner.

CCP almost never makes punishments public, doesn't mean they don't punish people, but you'll never see which ones got what. ----- Member of CSM 2, 3, 4 and 5. Feel free to contact me with queries. Convo, evemail or join the "meissaCSM" in-game channel. |

Put the public bits of info together. They've removed certain effects from magnetar WH's so obviously those effects cause some unintended benefits when applied in a certain way.
Alternately check some unofficial EVE forums.

this to me sends the message that CCP arent to bothered about people exploiting vunerablilities, if i manage to come across one i may just take my time in notifying CCP about it You guys make squeeky noises when you pop, and that's enough motivation as far as I'm concerned. |

you had the big ban from the moon goo exploit.
that ban also made a titan go bye bye as well as several other ships, and the overall cost of T2 ships to go up.

Not that this shows anything conclusive but the alliance in question used to post a lot, specially on w space threads. I haven't seen a post from any alliance member in a while.
