Have you read the ship descriptions for each? That's a good starting point. You died at the fittings screen, you just hand't realized it yet - Mr. Cue |

may want to think stragically and consider the dread going with your carrier. Look at the stats and descriptions for both from each race since carrier sets you up for dread....or dread sets you up for carrier (jump skills, bs 5, etc). My .02 isk anyway and a process I am following since once i get my t2 cruisers banged out....have to pick the cap race (combat char is faildari...x-train planned soon, least falcon is liked so sticking to faildari a bit for that ship).
Carrier ranks for 1 and 2 are depends on who you ask. Amarr or minny. Minny gets a nice repping bonus. This may be important as I know you have grand schemes of sanctum farming (posting in the pve section a subtle hint lol) but.... carriers also see cap battles and the always fun pos save ops. You will rep something, minny gets the job done faster. 3rd is Gallente and 4th, no surprise here, is caldari.
Dread lists, again the same basically although amarr arguably the best of em all for dreads (not even an amarr player, just plain ole respect of their dread).

The only reason to train anything but an Archon is that you already fly a max skilled dominix/Golem or have a thing for repping POSes.

Thannies seem to be primaries for pvp, high dps and no tank=perfect target

Thanatos: the bonus to remote armor repair and shield transfer range makes it useful as both shield and armor support. Its specific bonus is to fighter damage (5% per level). But tbh, carriers aren't very good damage dealers in capital fleets. Damage is what dreads are for. However, the damage bonus makes it a very good PVE ship. The Thanny also has a decent tank.
Archon: It has a remote armor repair and cap transfer range. Don't underestimate the value of the cap transfer range bonus, especially if supercaps are on the field with you. In addition, it has a very strong tank because of armor resist bonuses.
Chimera: Arguably the strongest local tank of all the carriers, but not heavily favored in fleets because it can only shield tank and provide shield support. In general, armor fleets are preferred, but FC's usually aren't very picky when they're trying to get people to bring their expensive toys to a fight. The Chimera also has a bonus to cap transfer, which is very valuable.
Nidhoggur: Its bonuses to both remote armor repair and shield transfer range and amount make it a very good repair platform, but it has a relatively weak tank.
If you're only looking for logistics and PVE, go with the Thanatos.
Things to keep in mind for PVP: 1. Carriers are meant to be support ships; they're valuable for remote repair and cap transfer. 2. Generally, armor tanking is preferred. 3. Cap transfer is extremely valuable. This is especially true if you're flying with supercaps, which take forever to cap up by themselves and need to cap up fast if the fleet is in a vulnerable position. 4. If you expect to be repairing POSs a lot, keep in mind that you won't be able to repair the shield on towers without a bonus to shield transfer range. 5. Fighter drones are only affected by the fighter drone skill and the ship bonuses of the owning carrier. Drone support skills are not applied.
