A guy in Minmatar militia with me pointed out that the biggest hastle when losing a ship in PVP isn't necesarily the ISK loss. It is the time it takes to walk through your saved fit, buy all the items and fit them to the ship.
His idea, and I have to WAY agree, is that it would be awesome if we could open a saved fit, and click "buy and fit it".
The client automatically looks in your hanger for that ship hull. You you have it, it assembles it and makes it active. If not, it pulls the sell orders for the station for the ship... pops up the best price and a +/- region average, buy? Yes/No. No, exit. Yes, execute the buy, assemble the ship, and make it active.
Then, it goes though each mod/rig in the fit. Check if it is in your hanger, if so, fit it. If not pull the sell orders and ask you if you want to buy. If yes, fit it.
We all agreed this would be totally AWESOME and make replacing a lost ship way easier.
Personally, I think this would get more ships destroyed, and therefore, increase demand and prices of the stuff for the industrial toons.

A corp I used to be in provided "kits" with their ship replacement program. For example, for a T1 cruiser you could "order" just the hull, or the hull with a "standard" T1 or T2 fit. They delivered the ship assembled with all the componenst in the hold.
It works...but getting agreement on a "standard" fit is always interesting
But I like the idea of pulling in somewhere and clicking one button to buy a replacement :)

For cheap fits I usually buy a stack of 10 hulls/mods/rigs/drones at a time and keep them in a hanger near where I'm PVPing so I can just instantly toss a new one together. For more expensive stuff, you, in theory, shouldn't be getting it blown up so often that it's a hassle to re-buy and re-fit.

Just make sure you have all the bits and you can open a fitting and hit one button and it will fit it for you. Any bits missing you can just right click the item in the fitting and view market details.
It takes me two minutes after finding a fit on BattleClinic, to export it into an EVE fitting, open it and buy all the bits and then fit them. Of course you need to be a station where theres lots of stuff for sale.
Before this, I used to write the fitting down and then manually search for it etc.
Hope this helps.

I'm mainly a seasoned mining person with manufacturing skills and a handful of blueprints to go with my skills. I generally mine the ores for the minerals I need for later producing about 10-20 filly-fitted ships (with at least 10 already produced and fitted) so that I can have a near endless supply of ships standing ready for action in case I lose my ship. And when I start losing enough ships, I begin production for more fully-fitted ships to fill in the gap. The only downside is the cost of updating my clone every time I get podded, which is no problem considering my income.

I have my doubts about this helping the demand of anything, BUT it would make my life easier. Unfortunately this will never happen unless CCP runs out of other fixes/improvements/new stuff/other games that they're working on.
P.S. If I may add on to you're idea. Perhaps have this "service" cost say 5 percent(or whatever) of the total fit cost. I've seen people say we need more isk sinks and that would be one. *shrug*

Don't need a new game tool for this. All it would take is for someone to offer a reasonably priced personal shopper service and could be a nice way for a budding entrepreneur to make some isk.
Find enough people interested in an area get their fits then go buy the equipment to for 10 fitted ships and contract with a markup on top. Then they can just put the fits together using the fitting tool.
If you can fly a freighter then you can theoretically service 8 clients with 10 cruisers and fittings each run. Lets say the average cruiser plus fittings and rigs costs 20mil thats a freighter load at 1.6bil isk and if you can get 10 percent on that that gives you 160mil for your troubles. The 10% should be fairly easy if buying from somewhere like Jita and selling in one of the more expensive regions, could even make a bit more. Begin producing the stuff yourself and you can up the profit even more.

There should be Player Corp shops that sell pre-fitted ships, in specific stations. And the corp guys shouldn't have to sit and micromanage each and every repetetive fit.

There is a market here.
I used to sell a good amount of "ready to die" contracts. They consisted of tech 1 ships and the mods required for the average/standard setup. I would take on about a 10% overcharge but people paid it anyway. I did this in the R-V-B region and things sold all the time -- you just have to advertise them to let the market know they are there since most people don't look at contracts when compared to the market. |

Alternatively, find a good industry corporation (better an industry alliance) and tell them what you need. There are some out there, who will build you a ship to your needs and deliver it to you. In quantities of 10 or more if needed. All you need is to have the right contacts - to know the right people. Such service is not new. --
