For those of you with issues regarding downloading and verification, are you by chance using the Steam client?

Problem is: FF is not really a solution. While FF seems more reliable than Safari to download the eve client. FF also has this issue (just not as often). From the last 6 Full client downloads via FF over the last months only 2 were successful.
i now finally have a working .dmg (sadly after resorting to download from a windows box).
but no wonder that there is so much trouble, browsers and download tools tend to behave strange when a binary download gets served as "text/plain; UTF-8" with a file size of >3GB.
they should fix their servers and serve them with the correct mime and i'm sure the problems would be gone.
windows seems to have no such issues even while their installer .exe gets served as "text/html" which is oddly enough.
This is indeed not right, and we are in the process of getting the MIME-type response fixed, so that it will be reported as binary data. I will let you know once this is fixed and hopefully this should alleviate most of the issues with regards to downloading the client. Do note that this "only" affected .dmg files and not .tar.gz so patch downloading will still work correctly, as it is not affected.

Let's put some facts on the table:
1) normal patch gets "Examining File : /Contents/Frameworks/wineserver -> SHA1 Error" 2) downloading full client gets different file every time i tried (see md5 checksum)
WTF - and you are telling me, that is not right?
Man, bring a workaround and bring it fast, my patience is eaten up by your ignorance. Neither I can download your patch nor the full client.
DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS CRAP.
The MIME type was being incorrectly set to text/plain. This will mess up binary data and cause the files not to work when downloaded, but this has now been resolved. DMG files should now correctly show up as binary data and hopefully resolve the issues that people have had when downloading the full client.
With regards to the patching problem, I am unfortunately unable to help you on this, but I would encourage you to file a bug report on this. All patches are tested internally before they are released, but there can be some setups where files will not validate, but the best way to handle this would be going through the bug report tool.
