So it is all a marketing-fad. CCP now has more employees than they did a year or two ago when EVE was on track. The track record since then has been on an ever steady decline, and the forums are so full of whines these days I am sure that most of CCP staff ignores it.
So is this Icelandic humour? Or simply just a sign that the developers of EVE have lost the spark for developing this game? Everyone who has been inspired and done something know that the stuff you really, really enjoy doing usually end up being good. If the current "development" of this game is a sign of that hypothesis, then I'm afraid of what a lower standard than "Excellence" is.
But then again, we the fools who still write on this forum obviously still pay for this game. Perhaps we are the ones to really blame? In spite of whining there still are subscribers in the plentiful.
This post ends in an anti-climactic "meh".

As long as there is no viable, competitive alternative to EVE in the MMO world, things will remain the same.
That is why there is no mass exodus over these ridiculously train-wrecked patches.

I'm somewhat under the impression that CCP expanded; hired a bunch of new, talented people without previous industry experience or any sort of a track record proving that their talent is an indicator of their performance.

So let me get this right...
You guys are idiots for thinking that every single patch will go perfectly, smoothly and without a hitch?
Jesus how many MMOs have you guys played? Coz obviously you're lacking in the knowledge that nothing, ever, goes to plan. Not even your whining, because I saw better whining than this back when STO was released: those star trek peeps know how to whine.

When was the last time an EVE patch went perfectly, smoothly and without a hitch?
It's gotten so when patch time comes around we are no longer looking forward to improvements, but rather dreading all the breaks that come from it.
QA does not exist at CCP, and if it does then they are not doing their job.

Roughly translated "excellence" is Icelandic for "bend you over and dry root you up the clacker".
Kinda like 37 different words for "snow" for some reason they nearly have as many for "we fail".

Why have they even bothered anyway? I was always under the impression that Mac users are too pretentious to play games...

Well, they need something to cheer them up. It can be a dull existance, being Icelandic. All they have to eat is fish and imported honey

Fixed.
You'll have to excuse me along with the rest of the whiners when we have expectations that even a modi****of QoS testing is involved in the patch process before it goes into the production environment. With the amount bugs in this patch and others it is obvious that sometimes they do test, but more often than not, they don't. Perhaps the rest of us just haven't "settled" for subpar and expect a product for which we purchase monthly to not cause us, the customer, lots of headaches.
When I was in IT providing support for small business environments if I had caused this much trouble everytime I walked in to perform upgrades to their systems I would never have had any customers. Deployments take an enormous amount of time test and paying attention to details. Planning hardware purchases, software purchases, server setups and deploying them actually takes less time than testing because you have to attempt to account for everything. It is completely obvious when looting a mission rat that it's cargo window persists in opening in the default position that NO, NO, NO, NO testing was involved in this patch whatsoever. Opening up wreck cargo is probably up there as one of the most frequent functions in this game and it's frickin broken.
Edit: Really? "Modic um" is a bad word now? They spend more time "tweaking" their bad word filters than their patches. Perhaps that's the problem. They're not allowed to utter any words that might contain bad words within them and so they can't actually speak to each other to get a patch that works deployed.

Patches will never ever go as planned 100% of the time, but I do admit that this time CCP did break a lot. The amazing part is that the when reading the notes....they didn't really do THAT much "all over the game", but now we have issues in pretty much everything. Seems like the a bulldozer went through the whole shop and not just one room.

Did you READ the patch notes? 99% of the problems are related to the first freakin' line.
"The backend of the EVE User Interface has been refactored to allow for faster development and ease of programming. Because of this some UI settings, such as stacked windows, may not be preserved after the patching process."
They may have understated the size of the change, perhaps. Or underestimated the impact of the code.

No I haven't, I would understand if we only had problems with UI as hitting a button would launch drones instead of buying a module, but we are also having problems with other areas, not only UI related issues.
Basically the UI changes only affect how the systems interacts with us.

Oh of course because I know nothing of UI's...oh damn...hey wait, I DESIGN THEM! Oh noes!
Of course it could be that the data itself is intact and they managed to screw up the UI on a WHOLE level so that even the data from database is showing wrong (aka ships ehp etc). Not just these window issues and honking. Basically the whole bloody interface went bonkers on both functional and visual level to the database. Even more interesting is HOW they managed to do this when they have Singularity...JUST FOR THESE PURPOSES! Yes, Sisi isn't a copy, but when it comes to interfaces...it should be close...very close.
