I find it hard to believe that CCP can be so incompetent that they released a virtually untested patch.
So what are the chances that what perhaps what was released was not the final version but an unfinished product? A beta version of the final patch maybe?
Reasons:
human error
or
someone on the inside sabotaged the whole thing for reasons unknown.

It's my belief that's how the boot.ini disaster happened.
Human error seems more likely in this case, because it's become evident EVE is running on a skeleton crew while the core of CCP work on WoD, but you never know. The variety and number of problems does make it appear as if someone went on a rampage.

My theory...since I'm one of the fortunate ones who has not dealt with a single problem on my pc nor on my Mac...I believe that all of the people reporting these so-called problems are infiltrators from other software companies. They knew that CCP was issuing a patch and that here would be new prospective players checking out the forums.
All of you are basically illusions...imposters...spies.
Good day to you.

Yeah, its actually pretty weird. Several bad bugs in this patch. I really don't think CCP can make this much mistake for a small patch so I too suspect a sabotage. I highly suspect Blizzard infiltrated a red spy in CCP HQ and added in some bad codes in the briefcases.
CCP, get your god damn sentry turrets and pyros on those briefcases and check all your employee's history of being in another former MMO company. ----------------------------------- Peace through power! |

WTF are you guys talking about "small patch"? Read the patch notes, it says "we completely re-wrote the user interface core".

I haven't had a single problem with the patch. Not a damn thing. Well, I kept closing the corp chat by accident for the first few hours because all of a sudden there was an X where the - (minimize) used to be, but that's my fault, not theirs, and anyway, the X has gone now and there's only the minimize button again.

My immediate thought was that CCP was running a skeleton crew on Eve. They may see endings where we see beginnings. I have not examined the business model that CCP runs under. That being said, I have worked in the inner cores of companies CCP's size, and I can say that, since CCP has not gone public, it is difficult to perceive what their intentions are.
A quick glance at their website lists Eve Online 3rd down on their list of featured products. WOD is at the front and they merged with White Wolf in 2006. A long time to initiate a product from that company, so CCP may be under the gun.
I have a decent amount of faith in CCP's management. They have created an experience that is unique in MMOG's. Money is money, however, and sometimes, new opportunities are sought in competitive markets.

Strange that they are releasing an optional patch to fix stuff. Either you are very unobservant or this just adds weight to the OP's conspiracy theory.
And as I don't believe it is a conspiracy...

If that is the case then they have completely abandoned testing since many of the broken features were reported on Singularity yet remained in the final release.

Blah blah blah, if I was a dev or mod all your accounts would have gotten forum bans long ago for all the spam you post here. Talk about an attention whore

Patch released to deal with issues listed in patch.
Fixes to said patch held back to show CCP fixes things they break and respond quickly by rising to the challenge with 'optional fix patch'.

I have several bugs in this patch the module's are totally screwed you can't activate many without moving them to new hot-slots... The wreck cargo hold constantly reverts to 1 inch by 1 inch square making looting a pain in my ass.
No bugs? Are you serious I want my old UI back it worked.

Depending on the same people who got us into this mess to get us out of it? Kinda like trusting the government then finding out they are testing STD's out on you.
