Hi there. I know we have another topic about self-destruction; ideas and opinions, a lot of rage, happiness and different emotions. I just tryed to check all posts about it, combined with my point of view and finished a little solution - How to fix SD mechanics in 5 steps and make it more interesting.
So, we talking about kill-mails after SD. Ok, lets do the next things then:
1. All killmails after SD should have note ``self-destructed`` on KB.
2. In normal situation only top-damager can count on kill-report. (except the fights with Concord in). If the ship was succesfully self-destructed, thats mean some percentage of Hp destoyed after SD blast. Now we have 2 different ways.
-Vitcim`s ship was deep in armor or in hull right before SD? Cool. Top damager is somebody from attacker`s side, he can count on KM. (Victim will have loss and kill on kb in one time). -Another situation. This guy had strong tanc or attackers was not good enough. Thats mean the main damage was taken after SD blast and the owner of ship is Top-Damager. He should get km and decide: to post or not to post.
3. All loot and modules in cargo + fitted modules should be tottaly destroyed after SD activation. Always empty wreck.
4. You was caught in null or WH area, but warped away. Then Self-destructed and attacker still can get km on you. Thats a wrong thing. Lets do another timer. If you`l start SD after one minute without agression, you`l be only one person in possible km (nobody else). So, no need to wait 15 minutes or re-log.
5. i think it would be really good to make different SD timers for every type of ship in game.
1. Frigates - 20 sec 2. Cruisers and BC - 40 sec 3. BS - 1 min 4. Capitals - 2 min 5. Super-capitals and Titans - 4 min
Or we can have just two big groups.Capitals+Super-capitals+Titans = 4 minutes. Other types = 1 minute.
Anyway i really hope the new SD mehanics will be more interesting and creative than the edition for next patch. |

No,
Also fail to see how any of your ideas make things more interesting in any way. Others and myself have suggested ship capture be linked into SD.. that would be interesting. |

These ideas are absolutely horrid. The SD system just got fixed, so that self-destructing is no longer a viable method to get out of kill-mails. You got caught and aggressed by a player, you died (via DPS or SD) = kill mail; simple logic requiring no further complications or re-working.
You are suggesting a solution to a non-existent issue... actually solution is a wrong term for what you are proposing; an overcomplicated, unneeded and borderline ludicrous suggestion would be more fitting.

It got fixed to be absolutely useless and SD function will be dead after this patch. If all what you need is Km and you dont care about balance, then yes. ( like one group of players vote for random on missions and better AI, other prefer same style, easy npc kills and more, more isk).
Im happy if you ok with that. just skip this topic. Me and a lot of other players dislike fix. SD was not balanced, but now is even worse.

Agreed - ``interesting``is a wrong word. its just about - how to save SD function. |

^ This. The only "rage" I see about the new SD mechanics is from players pissed off that they don't have a free ticket out of a killmail. Core Skills - train em up train em up! |

SD is useless? SD is going to die?
So, when you SD, your ship no longer explodes?
It's now only useless in denying KMs and loot during PvP engagements. I am sure it will still be widely used by people that want to pod themselves back to their med bay or get out of a WH they got lost in, which is what SD is for.
Your view of the SD function as viable tactic in PvP is sadly misguided. |

All the posters arguing against the SD changes because they think killing yourself ought to be a "useful" "viable" tactic should apply the same philosophy to their fight against the changes, and simply delete all their own posts. |

Actually you are wrong, I also don't like the new SD mechanics. Because even though we get people SDing regularly, I always felt that if we didn't kill them on time, it was our problem. They in turn gave us no loot and the bird.
Now SDing means nothing, as you get everything. Even if you brought a knife, to a gun fight.
It's a poor solution, that makes life way to easy for the gankers. Yea, I said it.
CCP Zulu..... Forcing players to dock at the captain's quarters is a form of what we actually wanted to get through, which is making Incarna a seamless part of the EVE Online experience. |
