CCP is looking for ways to expand on their profits, and since "microtransactions" involving PLEX (Which I FULLY SUPPORT!) get everyone up in arms...instead, let's just all offer to shell out 49.99 per expansion pack to have them promise to never implement more microtransactions (YES CASH 4 PLEX IS A MICROTRANSACTION). Anyone have a problem with this? I bet you do! So how would YOU propose they increase their bottom line? Keep the game exactly the way it is, innovate in no way, and pray THAT attracts 1000's of more subscribers? I know what might help with that...if people would STFU every time CCP tries to do ANYTHING. Christ, I'm amazed there isn't a group dedicated to listening for chair farts outside of CCP's offices so they can post about how offensive they find the dev's flatulence after an office potluck involving too many beans.
To those who keep flaunting "the player base" as a valid argument for and against ANYTHING, you forget that the player base is a lot like the voter base is in America...only represented by those who feel it necessary to complain. You do not represent anyone but yourself.

Yup, you can, but it'll only do about as good as Lutz wife asking for oral. Which coincidentally is about how often CCP has an accurate downtime.

I propose we pay CCP 9.99 to not implement Incursions.
..A salvage ship, PvE Raids, and a new Cap ship that looks like a spikey turd.... Um no thanks, take this $9.99 and throw that stuff in the trash! ... well ok we'll take the salvage ship, some people actually asked for that unlike all the rest.

First and foremost, do you need a bigger keyboard? Your finger seems to be pressing the shift key a lot when it really doesn't need to. While some of us might need glasses, I'm pretty sure we're right to decide that for ourselves and don't need you to capitalize things for our reading benefit.
Second, of course the wishes of the player base matter. They wouldn't be spewing forth Dev blogs on lag related fixes if they didn't have concerns about the way the community looks at them. It's simply good business to keep your paying subscribers happy and playing. If you **** them off too much you'll end up losing more then you bargained for. As an example of this, look at the slow decline of EQ2 under the management of SOE. Also, remember that the ones that show up and make themselves heard are also the ones who elect the government and choose the direction for the countries future (albeit in a round about way). While we as players don't have the right to a direct vote, we have the right to a number of other things; voicing our opinion about a service that we pay for introducing policies that a lot of people might disagree with. We also have the right to vote with our wallets and find a different game if it becomes too much of a problem.
And since I'm exercising my right to ***** and moan, I'm also going to mention that if CCP were to release an expansion for 49.99 and that expansion contained the amount of polished content that an expansion by Blizzard contains, I would gladly pay that over the introduction of micro-transations. Were they to charge 49.99 for the last expansion, or the upcoming one, I suspect they would be laughed out of business.
Finally, yes. They should be trying to attract thousands of additional users to build up their revenue base. This is what they've done from the start and it seems to have worked fairly well for them. They've grown eve in a massive way, they're developing a console FPS and another MMO on top of Eve as a result of their successes with EVE and it's ever expanding player base.
Vote NO to PLEX for Remap. |

Is it so awful that CCP increases EVE's bottom line the same way they have been for eight years? Because the game's been pretty damn successful so far. In fact, it's one of the few MMOs with the distinction of a subscription count that has never decreased. Why would they mess with a proven-successful formula? Especially when they can experiment with microtransactions in the two other MMORPGs they're developing?

I have to agree with the OP. Plex for respecs is no big deal to me personally. I just hope that it ends right there: not a single unique mod, item or spaceship should be RMT'd as that would **** the sandbox fundamentals of EVE. Also goes for Incarna: if it ends up being nothing more than a clever ploy to get people to spend rl money in a virtual wardrobe add-on I will seriously reconsider playing this game.

TL;DR but ill take a guess..
Charge more cash.Simple as that.Listen to the player and give them what they want, and state your price. If you do get the perfect game going,Im sure people will pay.
But dont break the game.
Just for the record,Ill pay 20-25 bucks for a game I like if its beiing filed down to perfection. But Im not sure if I want to pay anything for a game that is being broken.
And ccp knows what the players want,if not its not hard to find out.

For the record, first and last time Ill say this.
Go back to wow or die in a fire(in game)
Eve isnt a game for micro transactions..the player base doesnt want em,ccp doesnt want them.If they do do it,its for the money and theres other ways to get that like I said.

A PUBLIC vote, including people who don't view the forums? Hell yeah. Ask the people who play casually enough to never give a **** about the forums if they want micro trans options. I'm one of them, but I have a job so I forum troll. Wait I mean visit the forums socially.

No you were right about the trolling,no secret there lol.May as well admit it.
But how else do you want to learn the player bases opinion. Its the only thing you can do..vote on it.1 vote per paying account. And not through the forums..but in game with one of those onetime pop ups.

If it brought up the quality of the expansions, as well as kept the game from getting easier and easier to master, I would be happy to pay anything up to 30 euros for every expansion.

My proposal is for them to use their original model, which has seen Eve constantly grow (both in gameplay and numbers of players) for over seven years. This is almost unheard of in the MMO world.
Also, using the profits from Eve to develop new games will provide additional income streams for the company in the future.

I would gladly pay for expansion if it would provide following:
- Properly tested and bug free features - Actyally finished features instead this current halfdone and forgotten mess we have now - CSM that really can make difference how game evolves - Less lag in fleet fights - Actyally pay programming teams working improving Eveonline, instead all sort of strange incarnas and dusts...
Not thats a game i could vote best game of europe/world/whatever...
