This topic is completely an excuse to say that the Bloody Mary is the best drink in existence. Was only introduced to them yesterday and told they were an acquired taste, took one sip and BAM.
Anyway EVE, what's your drink of choice? I mean, after beer of course.

Edited by: Zions Child on 08/10/2010 20:10:01 Mine is Vodka. On the rocks, or with cranberry juice/ lemonade if I feel like getting blasted as opposed to taking it slow. Grey Goose is nice, Effen is interesting, but better as a mixer. Never liked Smirnoff, IIRC Absolut was pleasant... Oh, and I hate beer.
Also, best thing for getting f-ed up as quickly as possible while also leaving a fairly pleasant taste in your mouth - Long Island Iced Tea. Also, Dry Vodka Martinis (might as well be on the rocks) FTW.

I've tried tons of mixed drinks over the years in an effort to find one I can stand, but it just isn't happening. I've since given up and drink everything neat, even vodka tastes better that way.
My favourite depends on the setting. For binge drinking I guess vodka is my main thing. For socialising or just chilling out it'd have to be whisky or maybe some red wine.
Beer, of course, works anytime anywhere. (it's just a matter of choosing the correct type for the situation)

JSgermeister. With ice. Leave it for a while to let the ice melt a bit before drinking.
That's not really a "drink" though, since it's pretty much just one ingredient.
JSger + Red Bull or Rum + Coke perhaps, can't make up my mind tbh.
Long island ice tea are usually nice as well, but it depends on the ingredients.
Haven't tried Bloody Mary yet.
Bowmore is nice too.

Well, dihydrogen oxide is great, but I guess once in a while a drink of something bitter is OK, like Gin and Tonic for example. Sweet drinks only make me sick --- "And thus, another of the world's dreamers died, taking his dreams with him. Whiskey, straight on ice. None of that cheap mixer crap though (JD/Southern Comfort is just vile). King George V or Glenmorangie 30years aged is my poison if I'm feeling rich. Ben Nevis Scotch Whisky 25years ages and Cutty Sark 25years aged would be my choices any other time.

Jager bombs - when all else is expensive might as well.
More Vodka.... anything to mix that doesnt make you shout EUROPE down the porcelain phone.
Oh - and sometimes take a holiday in Amsterdamned and get high on weed legally, mileage may vary.

I fell in love with whiskey one night then s/he kicked me in the nuts and we ain't been all that friendly since. sometimes we have a fling, usually in 1.5oz sessions.
I've mostly filled the gap with beer (prefer guinness) and vodka (on the rocks of course).

I work nights/earlies and I drink too much caffeine to keep me alert. I get a numb sensation in the outer two fingers of each hand .... and sometimes down the side of my face .... is this a stroke warning? Effects worsen if I smoke |

If this is a serious post you should go get your blood pressure checked along with your cholesterol and general circulation etc as those are some of symptoms of a TIA which is a kind of stroke that resolves itself quickly, usually in minutes but can last hours.
Excess caffeine and smoking puts you in an at risk group and I am guessing you have a poor diet with lots of food on the go, not necessarily overweight or anything just poor quality convenience foods with high salt and saturated fat content as it sounds like that's part of your lifestyle.
Seriously get it checked it could save you and your family a lot of trouble in the future.

Yep it was a serious post and yes I have a poor diet on top of it all. Was trying to be light hearted about it, but will certainly go and see my GP about it now. And to all those who have a favourite alcoholic drink .... alcohol makes things much much worse. Enjoy, but take it easy |

Gave up hard liquor when I was 25, so nowadays I just drink beer, Hefeweizen specifically, a habit I picked up from a German ex-gf when I lived with her in Freiburg for a while. I'm spoiled now, as after a decade of drinking Hefeweizen almost exclusively, with its characteristically rich and thickly textured flavour, regular pilsener beer comes across as diluted mouth wash.
Oh, and hideously expensive red wine too, such as Vega Sicilia. Tastes even better when someone else is paying for it.
Aside from that, I enjoy drinking what I call a SnowFlake: black American-style coffee while smoking weed. The underlying principle is the same as with a SnowBall (mixture of heroin and cocaine), but without the bit about hard-drugs: mixing an upper with a downer, balancing each other out. Like the yin and the yang. Or the sun and the moon. Balance.
