Not sure if you're allowed to drive one, but if you're looking for a solid, good and actually quite fun bike, find an old VX800.

Not too familiar with all the Hondas monikers related to the 125cc category, but the sportier Yamaha YZF125R is a far superior machine and it being on the market for a couple years already should be affordable.

Had some issues past few days... I should have trained mechanics II at least lol...
It was cold last week, and in trying to get the bike to start I flooded the engine. Which made it even harder to start. I phoned a friend, and apparently the only way to resolve this matter was to remove the spark plug. Never done that before, so I went off to buy a spare plug and a socket thingy.
After some frustrations, another thing I learned was that you need to adjust the gap on a spark plug. I looked up the gap in my Haynes manual, bashed the plug about until I thought "that looks about right", well that just made things worse. I went to Halfords (at about 20mph) and got a spark plug gauge. The whole thing is really oily
So now my bike gets up to 30 given enough time (and sometimes more downhill), but I dunno something aint right

Hey Cat.
You don't need to gap modern spark plugs.
Just buy another spark plug.
Cheaper. They come pre-gapped.;)
Also buy them bulk online for about what Halfords charge for 1. Hehe.
You know about reading plugs? Is your scoot a 2 stroke?
If you live anywhere near me (notts) I'll give you a hand with it if you like.

Apparently it is an important thing with two strokes, the recommended gap for my machine is 0.6mm which the standard plug seems to have a bigger gap? Not sure. The feeler gauge certainly put pay to my observations
It's certainly not run the same since I flooded it, I live far away from Notts so thanks for the offer, but I can't. I do have a very good offer though. A, er, friend of the family is well into scooters, and offered to sort it out for me. He was prepared to modify the scripture for my fathers motorcycle wedding, so I'm sure he'll help out his scooter brother lol

I'm thinking a Honda CBR125 would do nicely. Does anyone who rides motorbikes have any input?
I rode my motorcycle test with my driving school's CBR 125
CBR is a good choice to get through the drive tests. It's agile, handles nicely, drive postion id good if you're medium height guy/gall, it looks nice, gears lock well even on well worn-out bikes and also on the plus side is that it has more than enough power for a rookie on his first bike.
So there's no fear of you being the "road block" at freeways.
