I have played plenty in my time and all of them have come with forums.
my question is this;
Have you ever played an MMO where the forums are not clogged up with people moaning constantly about the game and how terrible it is.
Everyone i have ever seen is full of people who moan all day long.
This game seems pretty decent to me. It easy to make a lot of isk, highsec wardecs are easy to overcome. And when im ready i've got a place in nullsec to kill and be killed as much as i can and a highsec set up to support it.
Lastly
The quality of moderators differs across MMO forums. I have seen some great ones who everyone likes and some terrible ones who treat the forum like there own personal fiefdom. But the CCPs all seem a little tired here.
Ultimate lastly.
I dont know if this is an urban myth but a friend of mine wants to become a CCP moderator. The reason is that we can all move to nullsec and just have a shuttle gate camp our entrances. His name will be CCP Nodecrasher

No but that is only a natural outcome of several factors. Some of us like playing forum games and people generally give feedback only when something is wrong/needs improvement. Not to mention, that a forum where the users just circle jerk each other and mods crush all dissenting oppinions are very boring and repulsive places to visit. Besides, I enjoy the little drama plays, that get shown on these forums on a regular basis.
I like CCP's approach to moderation in general. I've posted on many forums with the style I use with DSQ here and on most of them I just start to accumulate infractions pretty fast. I don't think I could be a part of a gaming community that is so stiff and lacking in sense of humo(U)r.

The largest English Final Fantasy XI forum circa 2005 was far worse than EVE's. The nerd rage and trolling that occurred there were the stuff of legends.

That's what anonymous alts are handy for.
Actually, this anonymous alt is anonymous not to escape harassment from enemies I make on the forum, but rather so that I may freely express myself while avoiding damage to my relationships with various in-game organizations, friends and associates.
I'd derive no small satisfaction from being harassed by someone who's butthurt about something someone said on an Internet forum about an Internet game.

There is always some complaining, but the difference is in how widespread it is for Eve. Almost no one is happy with the last few patches.
Sov is a mess, missions keep getting nerfed, PI was a flop, Low Sec continues to fail, exploration gets more broke each patch, Faction Warfare continues to be an Afterthought, Mining is hilariously unprofitable oh and the lag keeps getting worse.
Normally the complains are about people wanting different things getting upset that time is being spent on developing other things. In WoW the PvEers and PvPers are always whining back and forth depending on what the last patch focused on, but in Eve *everyone* is feeling ignored.

Do you have any prood or are you just making assumptions by reading the handfull of posts on this forum by the same people over and over? This forum is the only place i see complaints and its by far the minority.

Not really, no. There's always complaining. But you can use the complaining to get an idea of the state of the game. If people are complaining about "OMG How could you make change(/fail to make change)X!? The game's gonna die now!" then things are probably tickety boo. If people are complaining about the lack of population then the midden hit the windmill some time ago. Complaints about lag are always going to be there; bandwidth is effectively a fungible resource with MMOs and standard "x is overpowered, boost y" are the proof of a healthy community.

I like the CCP mods. They aren't drunk with power like some game mods I've met. "You have been banned for excessive negativity" lolwut?
The general activity of the devs is heartening too, they may seem to waste time poasting in pointless threads but it's essential that they build up some form of rapport with their subscribers. So many devs for other games hide behind their PR people and are subsequently hated with a passion.

Back when I used to play AO the forums were full of people whining to see some class boosted or some other class nerfed. Eve forums are pretty good by comparison.
I think the reason is partially because there aren't any classes to complain about, and the kind of players eve attracts (or at least used to attract) are the kind that look to themselves, rather than the devs, for solutions.
And then there's always the option to wardec someone into oblivion if they QQ too much about something. - - - Dian'h Might - C&Ps resident "internet kleptomaniac" |

Simply put, no. The loudest most profane whiners always inhabit the forums.

I must say that no, I haven't. Whether it's the Order-Chaos balance (or lack thereof) on War, raid difficulties on WoW, general 'game XYZ is dying' talk on most MMO forums, or complaints of 'fix the bugs nao' for the WoT beta, all MMO communities do this. In EVE however, with all it's self-described dashing, brilliant gentlemen informing us of it, the only real change is how pretentious and unbearable the whines become.
In response to the first lastly, I'd hafta say CCP's mods are pretty average. Not demonic tyrants, of course, but worse than some forums when it comes to certain topics.
And for the last lastly if you're a mod I'm pretty sure you don't get the CCP name. You actually need to work at CCP to get that.

There was a period in EVEs history(maybe 2 years ago) where it probably had the least complaints I have ever seen on an MMO forum.
Other forums.
DAOC - it was a balance disaster often so the complaints were many.
SWG - most of the complainers quit because it sucked
WAR - Lots of complaints before everyone quit.
EQ2 - the complaints werent that bad but then no one was playing it either
WOW - its Bnet
Shadowbane - people were extremely unhappy there back in the day.
DDO - complaints long ago - its actually a very constructive forum now over all.
LoTR - Havent seen it since release - the complaints were somewhat muted bacl in the day.
PoTBS - People were really unhappy about all the grinding - then they all quit.
So I would say historic EVE and current DDO are best I have seen.
Wherever you went - Here you are.

I was there for these. WAR's main forums were Warhammer Alliance, not official but close to it. I had played WAR since open beta and played a Magus mainly (pre-nerfed). Was in a great guild, but the game itself turned out to be crap, so pretty much all of us quit eventually.
SWG... well. Yeah.
Originally by: Ghoest PoTBS - People were really unhappy about all the grinding - then they all quit.
Wasn't there for this, but it's nice when people complain and then quit when they don't get what they want, rather than complaining and continuing to play.

Go back in time a few years on this very forum and you will see a different world. I think bloodline was the turning point. If that's because the player base has changed (it changed a lot) or because CCP had one bad idea after another is hard to tell.

EVE's forums are healthy compared to some of the bad MMO forums out there OP. The grass is definitely not always greener! That said its unrealistic to judge an MMO by its forum base. As they tend to be a very vocal, non representative of the wider player-base minority.

The EVE Online forums are probably the worst forums I visit, baring maybe the STO forums when that was released.
The whole "meme", "trolling" you while "trolling" me thing is way over the top here, this is also the only forum I have known where people try to create there own troll threads even though it's rather nonsensical to do so.
Basically if you visit these forums often enough you already know the trolls so you just don't bother reading there posts, yet they post.
The moderation is a little odd too, The moderators often make work for themselves, encourage troll posting, and then have to make up rules to cover it up, this will probably be "snipped" of course, but that proves my point.
Ultimately the EVE forums are not somewhere I come for debate or conversation, I come here because seeing the trolls waste there time here makes me feel more significant and superior to them.

You forget:
AoC: epic fail of a MMO, most dumped it a la WAR, then they applied tons of fixes. No idea if it got a playerbase back. Flames were had.
WAR: it came *that* close to be a new and nice MMO, really. But it did not, it tanked and its developers were a bunch of bragging idiots starting with the lead.
Too bad, I loved my Sorceress (called Vaerah Vain in a very nice guild) since beta, but playing alone is no fun. (Actually you did not forgot WAR but I wanted to rage a bit about this big delusion)
Istaria: possibly the MMO with the hugest potential of all. I know of no other MMO where *terrain can dynamically change in real time*, where you can *be* a neat dragon with a whole life-cycle (and different shapes / sizes), build towns and lairs in a most cooperative way and much, muuuuuuch more. The PvE was diverse, with randoms mobs calling each other and grouping to kill you in the most atrocious ways. IE one would heal the others, another dot and permastun you and worse (!). Several epic quests that could last weeks...
Too bad the initial owners were shady and vaporware prone so after much forums flaming it tanked hard, very hard.
Though it has been taken by former employees and kinda revived (not a lot in the subscriptions though), it has the best community of any of dozens games I have played.
Darkfall Online: lots of flaming in the first days past release, expecially due to rampant exploits and bloodwalling. I played it for a while then RL happened.
Best PvE AI of all the MMOs I played as well. Mobs would scout, call the others, feign territorial strategies to kick you in the nuts over another corner, use trees / stones at advantage. It was as close to playing against human opponents as it can get with a current MMO technology. - Auditing & consulting

The EVE forums are terrible for insults and flaming. However compared to others there is far less *****ing and whining about game balance.
Worst community - World of warcraft. See above for the reason why.
Best Community - Fallen Earth. Such a shame I didnt have the time to invest in it.

All MMO forums are the same:
2% questions from n00bs. 8% suggestions on new features. 90% people nerdraging and whining about everything.
The only difference in EVE's forums is CCP is the only company that doesn't run their forums with an iron fist.

Is that like when everyone stops posting on the forums or something? Sounds terribly emo actually, everyone sitting around not doing or saying anything because they're mad, maybe slitting their wrists while they're at it?
I don't recall any mega rage quiet happening here, it's pretty loud with people crying over insignificant crap honestly.
