This situation borders on being ******ed. You have a ship at that station you don't have access to. You want to sell it. So, you create the contract. Everything goes well, until you discover that one of the modules is damaged. That's it. The ship is stuck there forever. It can be damaged drone, or used faction crystal - doesn't matter. No way you can create the contract and get rid of the ship you no longer can use.
May be it's time to allow us to remove damaged items from containers and exclude them from contract. I'm not asking for an ability to repair them remotely. But when you can't sell a ship because a drone in a drone bay has 1% damage and there's nothing you can do about it, it's simply ******ed.

Yeah, but what if it's a nul sec station where you no longer have access either due to a change in station ownership or you no longer belonging to the station owner's corp or alliance?

While you are at it fix laser crystals too. I hate having to strip all of my ships and either abandon them or move the crystals myself.

Only if you can get someone to enter the station. But if the station its offlimits this doesn't help much ...It can theoretically allow you to sell it to the new residents (make a bogus curier contract(curier contracts don't care for damaged items) with price desired for item covered in collateral for them to accept and fail; thus getting the item while you keep the collateral).
So if your ships use overpowered lasers you must pay the price and use above mentioned ordeal to trade/transport ships. If your ships use other mundane weapon systems however you can trade them without much fuss .
