Good Day New Eden,
I will be conducting an experiment. I began this game in February. It was a massive learning curve, worse than any game I have ever played. I have come very very far since then.
I have watched the forums extensively, watched the plight of many players in the game through the forums, which doesn't just include alliances/corps but also single players trying to play the market, run missions, live in wormholes, do industry, mine, etc.. I watched the Hydra Reloaded rise and fall, the T4U scam, read the **** that is CAOD forum and the huge amount of drama the encloses it, the lag **** fests, the jita scams, the high sec ganking, the lowsec bull****tery. I read these forums almost as if they are a book with the guide to EVE secretly hidden within it. I have ran missions, traveled to nullsec, lived in nullsec, been in some cool fights, mined rocks, hauled expensive items, lived in wormholes. I feel it's time to take what I've read and learned to play in this sandbox.
This is where my experiment begins.
I want you, pilots. You pilots of New Eden who will follow someone with an idea. I have with no doubt in my mind that someone before me has made a similar statement. This however will be different in much broader sense. Obviously I cannot speak of the entirety of the experiment I have in mind as there are eyes and ears everywhere in this game. The only thing I can definitively say is I do not have an end goal for this experiment yet as I don't know what kind of response I will get out of this, if any at all. What's important is the idea, the idea I hold in my head and the things I want to do with this box of sand.
There is no way possible to do any of the things I have in mind just by myself, or even the corp I'm currently employed with. Which is why I'm want to run this experiment, with as many pilots as will join me and my idea. I see so many on this forum and in game, lost as a spell in a storm, asking so many questions only to want more. It's in my hopes that through this experiment you will find the answers you seek, and maybe some you haven't even asked yourself.
Although there are several guides people have spent many many hours composing and designing. There is a human element that still requires attention when players come to this game. While the ônew playerö channels help a lot for new players, I always felt when I started there was something a bit lacking. I feel this is in the form of corporations. I cannot count on my hands and toes how many players that I've read about that have tried to find or join a corporation only to find themselves in a place they cannot flourish or end up getting ripped off because they are too trusting. I appreciate this fact in this game because this game is not forgiving, or forgetful. I do not care if you lost ships, got podded, lost isk, or whatever it was that brought you to that fate. This is the very basic aspect of EVE, that every player must learn, know, and embrace. Time and time again I have read about players complaining how they lost ships or how they feel it was wrong. In fact I've read about this aspect of the game so much it feels like I'm beating a dead horse even uttering a breath about it.
What I do care about however is that you don't lose a ship unnecessarily, and if you were to lose a ship, weather it be a battleship or small frigate, it's for a greater cause. I'm sure by now if kept reading your likely thinking to yourself, ôThis is about power.ö. Yes. Yes it is. It's the power to stand against those who would use you, exploit you, or even crush you. It's the power to stand tall and strong amongst those who will stand with you, beside you, and those who will die in fires with you. This is not power for one, but for all for those who will join.
cont'd....

With every great step begins a small one. Whichever profession you enjoy or desire you will have free reign to do as such, more so, encouraged to follow it. Within this experiment you will get support from your fellow members to follow your heart where it leads you. Hopefully within this ambitious idea you will find where you belong.
So come you tired and lonely, you lost and weary, you young and old. Begin this brave venture of an unknown of this vast universe and claim it with us. Come, claim your place in EVE with us, as one and all, as not even I will not know the final outcome.
Within this idea, whether prosper or fall. Only you and us will be the only real ones to tell the REAL tale of what really happened.
To you mods or those watching: this thread will be a blog of mine of what happens. Obviously I will only be able to post information that does not compromise our security (as if it hasn't been already).
Imperial Tau Syndicate welcomes you, those who will follow me and my idea. Come ... come join to create a new power in EVE. We'll be waiting, and I'll be watching. I await your response.

Edited by: Lu Hsun on 15/10/2010 03:53:27 Perhaps your experiment should be in making short and pithy statements of purposes. Rather then obscenely long impenetrable rambling walls of text.
As a service to New Eden I'll provide a TL:DR
"Join my corp, we'll do stuff! What stuff? Haven't decided yet! BUT IT WILL BE BIG! PS I don't know how to use the corp recruitment forum"
Also Aaron is way ahead of you in the ego trip game, he's already decided a mission, started work, ran it into the ground, started again, and I believe is shortly scheduled for another project collapse.

Honestly people, no matter how new you think the idea you just came up with is, its been done, failed, done again, failed again, and finally retried by a bunch of Russians with nothing better to do after imbibing 7 liters of vodka in 20 minutes. With titans.
Also, I endorse/and or/support this quoted poster's product. 2.5 Interwebs for you, to be spent anywhere, including fail posts.

There's a difference between ADHD, and the simple case of my time being worth far more than what you're asking me to spend it reading.

Surely you mean better than any other?

You sir have no stated purpose, and even more then that you are admittedly very new to the game. Whatever it is you are trying to do I'd bet you a Plex that it involves 1.) Teaching Noobs and 2.) "Eventually Claiming A Little Spot Of Sovereignty One Day" (TM)
Neither of which you are qualified to do, and thus, your experiment shall tank and fail under the weight of uncounted Empire wardecs and comedy Kill mails. If you truly want to help new people in game, try joining the E-Uni public channel or the Help Channel.
