I am new to the game (less than two weeks) and I've got a plan. To learn the necessary skills to be able to fly and equip a drake according to a fit I found on the internet and was quite popular. Once I do that I will be probably soloing level 3 missions. That's my 60 days plan.
Until then the only thing I find the least boring is doing missions. However level 1 missions are EXTREMELY easy, therefore I thought I would grind some standing to do level 2 ones hoping they are harder.
I want to ask
a) is there any specific guide, or any tips regarding grinding standing? b) how many level 1 missions approximately do I need to make a level 2 agent go from 0.0 standing to 1.0? c) will joining a corp help me with missioning or any of my 60 days goals? (I heard something about standing leeching)
feel free to add anything that you think might help me

Interesting - I find that running missions bores me to tears - to each their own I guess =)
Anyway; a) Don't decline storyline missions Don't accept misssions that brings you to low sec Don't decline too many missions in a row, and don't fail to many missions as that will lower your standing.
c) YES!!
However boring missions are - they are slightly more fun with mates. Nothing beats beeing bored together with others =). And if you find someone with high standing doing (say) level 4 missions, you can join and gain standing just by being in the same fleet (iirc).

1) Stick to one or two corporations 2) Try to limit the number of faction kills or you won't be able to enter the other half of highsec. You can see the opponents' faction on the mission tab. See also 2) 3) Storylines - a bit the same (unlike what Chiana Moro said). If your standings with a faction rises, the standings with the 2 opposing factions (Amarr + Caldari vs Gallente + Minmatar) lowers, and below -5.0 they'll shoot on sight when you enter their space. 4) eve-survival.org is the most used mission reference, not sure if it also has L2 mission reports.

No idea, it's also depending on your Social and Connections skill. You'll get to L2s soon enough, they're not that hard (except a few).

Some active missioning corp can take you along on L4 missions, when you're in the same fleet and they hand in themission you also get increased standings. It's not really necessary to do so, though.

With the proper knowledge and nothing else on a brand new account, you could be soloing L3s in less than 20 days.

Tutorial//funnel missions don't really require you to be more than a couple of days old. Running all the tutorial agents and career funnel agents (NOT just the ones the system shoves into your mouth - SEE HERE) will yield high enough FACTION standings so that just about any low-quality L1 agent of that entire faction will become available to you. It is highly advisable to do most of them only after you have Social L3 trained, or preferably even L4, to maximize the "easy" standing gains. With L3 connections, you should have access to most L2 agents of that faction, and with a bit of "regular" missioning or training the skill to L4 you might even be high enough to open up some low-quality L3 agents. After you finish all of the tutorial//funnel agents for your chosen faction, you should be able to do the same again, but for the FRIENDLY faction (so Amarr+Caldari or Gallente+Minmatar), to get derived faction standing gains on top of the already existing ones. You can easily do ALL of that in your first week of gameplay - and now you have access to quite a few L3 agents in just about any NPC corp belonging to ant of the TWO separate friendly factions. Getting a ship that's able to run efficiently through L3s is the slightly more challenging task, or better said, getting the ISK to buy it, because training for the most basic fit (on, say, a Drake) is also quite a short train (assuming you have a "full" account, otherwise battlecruisers is closed off).
At the end of those 60 days, you could be already running L4s... with L4 agents opened up even earlier, but not quite effective enough at damage dealing plus tanking to bother with L4s.

If you are careful about how you pick the agent to use for mission 16, you can often get a HUGE (like 24%) standing gain for a storyline mission with the same corp. Often the regular agent is poor quality, so you run all other missions with a high quality agent.
When I am grinding standings, I will travel many jumps after every 15 missions, just to use an agent that will get me a storyline with the same corp. It is well worth the trip.
How I pick an agent for mission 16 (see last post).
It works because you always get the closest storyline mission agent from the same faction as the regular mission agent.

Edited by: Narisa Bithon on 19/10/2010 01:38:46 as a noob to gain standings fast do distribution agent (courier runs mostly) or manufacturing agent (mining/courier mostly) missions. these missions can be done quickly.
every 16 missions u do for the same agent will spawn a storyline agent mission. these improve your overall (race) faction standing which all npc corps associated to that agent will take into consideration.
so blitz lots of missions for distribution agents or manufacturing agents (most boring but highest standing gain per mission) until u can get a level 3 agent. then u can go back to shooting npc rats in l3 missions or keep doing the courier runs until u get to an l4 agent.
also worth noting:
train up connections and diplomacy and negotiation skills. these also increase your standings

Connections - increases your standings with Friendly Agents Diplomacy - increases your standings with Hostile Agents Social - increases the amount of faction standing you get Negotiation - increases the amount of rewards you get for the same mission.

If your goal is to eventually get jump clones, be sure to work for an NPC corp that has medical facilities at their stations. There are some corps that will let you join long enough to set up jump clones, Estel Arador (hope I spelled that right) runs probably the best known and widespread example.
If you plan invention at any time in your career path, work for an NPC corp that has R&D agents. Even if you don't intend to use them soon, having them already at high standing will help when you do go towards that path.
