Yes its another one of these threads.
Short history, I'm 21, male, very intelligent and capable person.. Getting an associates in Computer and Information Technology in 2 years.
After that I believe I will no longer be able to stand this country.
I need to get away from people telling me to worship their god everywhere I go. I need to get away from the people and american media that is rotting even my own brain. I need to get away from the horribly expensive medical system and anti-drug culture here.
Things I will need where I go:
A large city (500,000) people or larger. Lots of social things to do (Bars, woodland trails, house parties, pool halls)
Other then that I really don't care, I would prefer somewhere warm though, I ******* hate the cold. It's just entering the fall here in the east US and its already too cold for me.
Would prefer constructive feedback, not stuff like "Fix your own country!" I personally believe this place is unfixable, You'd have to be a world bank trillionaire to do any reasonable amount of change to this broken land.

Thanks for the feedback.
I meant intelligent in aptitude, not in actual knowledge.

1. Wont happen 2. Turn off the tv, and no one is forcing you to watch tv. 3. you know nothing of healthcare at all. just because it looks cheaper in other countries such as socialized means you also pay out the *** in taxes to have it. 4. you can't say your intelligent and do drugs, since any respectable company in the world does drug testing.
But if you are looking for a country, there is the netherlands.

Can you speak any foreign languages? If not, that kinda narrows down your search to either Canada, Australia, South Africa, or the UK.
So, we have Toronto, Vancouver, Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Pretoria, Johannesburg, Cape Town, London, Liverpool, Manchester, Cardiff, Oxford, Cambridge, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dublin, Cork, and Belfast. Not all of course have high populations but I'm sure you already knew that. Take your pick.
Now, if you want to live in another country with a foreign language, you better start learning their language now. If you think that you can get by all by yourself solely because English is the international language, you probably should just stay in the US until you've learned the language.

1. Sad face 2. I can, but I'll still see it everywhere and everyone I know will still be watching it. 3. I know my doctor just perscribed me a 600 usd a month cream for removing a wart on my hand. I called and complained about the price and he perscribed me a 200 dollar one. <-- Thats the medical system bs I'm trying to get away from, not the actual cost of it. Just the corruption and the lies that doctors spit out every day. 4. I have peers that make 100k a year at big companies like walmart, and they do plenty of drugs. So I have no idea what your talking about.

I cannot speak any other languages.. and in fact I have a hard time learning new language... so I'm probably going to be stuck in Canada, South Africa, and Europe then.
Canada seems like the best bet so far, except its icey cold and that will be terribly depressing.. I suppose I could take vacations.
South Africa sounds interesting, I've researched a little about them but not enough to say anything either way.
And Europe, has sounded like a good idea for a while, But y'all are up there with Canada on the coldness aren't ya? (And you might lynch me for my ridiculous southern accent haha)

Well I don't have to work at a respectable company. My old roommate had to move to Arkansas, USA to get the job but.. hes the only friend I have making near 100,000 USD a year. He's even offered me programming jobs at 70,000 usd, but I told him I suck at programming and would never move back to Arkansas in my life. lol.

Like I said, unless you move to the UK, you're going to have to learn a new language if you come to Europe. And no, it's not as cold as Canada unless you're further north.

It's really 83,250 a year, with a 20% or 25% bonus every February. but I've seen the check stubs. Thats one hell of a lot of money to get in 1 month. and I'm not talking about February either.

Actually the big managers there do make 100k or so per year. Wal-Mart actually pays you out the ass, but they basically make you a slave and treat you like crap. That was my point...their treatment of employees is atrocious. They get away with it by paying them better than anyone else in retail.

amazingly enough, the countries where people are most happy are those cold and "depressing" countries. What was the country with the biggest happiness rating on the last poll? Finland? Norway? ---

Come to Spain. It's warm, sunny, friendly, lots of social things to do, relaxed atmosphere, and a very permissive attitude to whatever it is you like doing - such as drugs, which are legal (not selling them though, just for personal use).
Even if you don't speak the language, there's always a demand for English speaking people, and a there's lot of expats from northern European countries, both in big cities such as Madrid and Barcelona, as well as down the coast (where there's even some places where they hardly speak Spanish).

I mean Im happy my old roomie got a good job. I think it sucks he has to live in Arkansas to keep it. It's the worst place I've ever lived. Everyones addicted to meth, There are no parks or anything to do there, no malls, nothing. The people are all horrible and want nothing to do with you unless your their boss or wife.... its terrible there...
Getting a great job isn't my concern really or making money, its about the quality of my environment... and I've pointed out what I'm trying to get away from in my first post.

I am looking at Costa Rica myself. It is warm and moist, great surf, plenty of jobs for English speakers in the tourist industy and the industries that revolve around it. They have a 7 year naturalization process and they allow you to keep your prior citizenship. There is a large US expatriot population and a good bit a money available for business start ups. There is private and socialized medicine for those that have scrupuls. All in all it is a heaven in my mind. Good luck and use you 'apptitude' to do a lot of research before you make a decision. I would say at least a week visit in your top 2 to 3 spots would be smart to get at least a flavor of what you may be diving into.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind 500k. But you gotta start somewhere.
In all honesty, my plan is to work for a while while still living in a cheap apartment and eating cheap food, and hopefully ~5 years later have enough to start my own business, Start trading stock and such. I believe my 20 year old friend regularly makes 200-300 dollars overnight. Stock seems like a good investment if you know what your doing, He did lose 50 grand when Fannie May or however you spell it crashed, but hes made it back already.

Thank you for the reminder! It comes a little sad to me, My mother was going to move us down to Costa Rica to enjoy her last days when she found out she had cancer... But we never made it because she was too busy taking care of me. I def will look into that again, I don't know if they have a city the size I want.. I have this impression of it being a small place, But thank you! *Adds costa rica to research list*

Quite funny that yet again, Australia has been over looked by the OP (someone else brought it up though - good on ya mate).
Just seems that the wildlife scares everyone else too much. It's not that bad.
And Melbourne would fit what you want quite well. And if the cold still gets to you there, then you could always try Brisbane or Perth (lots of money thanks to the mining industry over there).

The stock market is like a cruel mistress that bites your ****, but you always go back for more because she's just so damn beautiful.
Sure the money is there, but it's too risky to make it a career unless you are desperate.
And 500k is.... Better than 100k.

If it makes you feel better, I plan on starting a revolution and replacing the CEOs and other ultra-rich people who control this country with ultra democratically elected politicians... But thats a different story.
I would say your options are fairly limited. Also, moving to another country is hard work, as you tend not to get citizenship for quite a while, unless of course you have lots of money.
Also, I'ma piggy-back off your thread, because I was planning on studying abroad for a Summer, and want to go somewhere in Europe, but don't know exactly where I want to go. Spain is nice, Germany and the Netherlands seem like fun places, but I don't speak any European languages. I couldn't stand going back to Japan again for a summer, so I really would like to study in Europe... Any hints, people?
EDIT: Also, that planned revolution is mostly just to watch the fundies burn. I don't want any real responsibility for a country, just want to burn the idiots who have to much power over this country's direction.
