Only in Japan, eh ?

here you can see the "trick" better
Quote: The concert itself is made up of the Virtual Singer being displayed on transparent display at the stage with live bands playing the instruments.
P.S. And a 720p version of another song in it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfyUuUV1yzk _

Lol. Science fiction is becoming fast a reality (as it will usually turn up). I can think of plenty of other very useful apps for that technology.

Why is everybody surprised? How is the same scene with human performers any different, except for the graphics quality?

You're kinda' totally missing the point here. It's not the artistic performance we're gawking at, it's the technological performance we're impressed with. _

Because this is AMAZING technology. Oh sure, it may be the single biggest waste of technology ever, but think of the possibilities!

Oh, I see. It does look well done but that's just because of the viewpoint. It probably doesn't look that well for the guys all the way to the right/left. It's probably just a projection to a semi transparent surface.

If you watch it all (the latter 720p one), you can notice there's plenty of different viewpoints and even some wide camera pans to get a better idea.

I do remember seeing something similar in a tvshow, but it was pretty much an alpha prototype back then. Like something of the size of a dinner table that displayed a image no bigger than a cat.
the fact that such thing now shows up in a live concert means that them japanese people are still techcrazy tho. ---

Hm yeah. It looks really nice. I wonder if the surface is simply multilayered. The 2 projectors seem to be playing the same video with a little time/frame difference.

That's 2D, this new stuff looks like 3D...but it could just be the perspective.
