I have been unable to find on the forums a logical explanation how/why a $750 cpu and a $500 graphics card can loose over 100% of thier perfomance after the PI expansion and patches. Yes Ive checked my computer for problems. I am running three windows but did not have any problems until now. I normally dont get lag unless CCP is mass testing for lag(ironic). I had to start running EVE in the lowest graphic settings because I was getting graphic crashes. This brought performance back up a little and stopped the graphic crashes. Dont you love brown ice asteroids. I am now seriously thinking about overclocking my CPU and graphics card. Luckily I have a SLI motherboard and I can add another $500 graphics card by the time Incursion goes live.

Edited by: Mashie Saldana on 24/10/2010 14:23:56 If you lost 100% of the performance the computer has probably locked up or crashed.
Edit - Oh and I use a $200 CPU with a few years old $500 GPU and can run three windowed clients at 1920x1080 without problems, so check your graphics settings and update the drivers.

Quite simple: they can't.
Partly because I have no idea how on earth you "loose" performance, and partly because, at most, they can lose 100%, and that happens when you turn the computer off.
Or, wellà I suppose that, in some oblique way, if you lost previously completed computations ù causing data to never have existed and unravelling the images generated, not just from memory, but removing them history itself ù thus "unmaking" the work, that could be considered some kind of negative performanceà
àbut I'm sure a number of the greatest physics research institutions on the planet would be willing to pay a whole heap of cash to get their hands on that kind of tech, so you'll come out ok in the end. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

better solution, turn off the computer and never ever touch it again. This way he is not required to communicate

I'm getting reports from some friends of mine in game that they have similar problems. Since I'm "the tech" guy (programmer btw.) they usually ask me for advice.
The only thing I can say is that it doesn't matter how much money you spend on hardware when software is the problem. Your hardware is not making troubles (most likely) because I play EVE normally on old Intel 820D with 7300GT graphics (around $100 total). It's not the first time graphics drivers aren't compatible (or working properly for that matter) with some game. The best shot you have is to write a petition, follow the instructions and hope for the best. If it's not solved after you do everything tech support say, then you'll just have to wait for a new GPU driver update.

I got my mind right, boss!
Lacking any other information necessary to understand the crux of the problem I will still attempt to help you.
You're losing 100% performance after the PI expansion....lets see....is it unusually dark in your house, even during the day and especially at night? Perhaps you failed to pay for your utilities? If not, maybe you should turn your computer on?

For you idiots. If my computer is running at 25 percent of its max and it jumps to 50 percent of its max this is a 100 percent decrease in performance.

No. That's a 50% decrease in performance or, more accurately, a 100% increase in workload to perform the same task (which is probably what you're experiencing ù the performance is exactly the same, but more of it is needed).
A 100% decrease in performance means that, regardless of what it was before, your performance is now zero: nothing gets done, ever. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Yes they are expensive but I dont think its the card. Some of EVE settings have changed and tweaking them is giving me more performance.
