Don't know if you know this but now when you change negative personal standings towards a player it sends them a them a hurtful and upsetting message telling them they now have terrible standings.
Just as a test I tried this on 10 of my corpmates to see how they'd react, the result was alot of confusion and the atmosphere of the whole conversation changed dramaticaly for thw worse. I can see some greifers using this as a loophole to greif people ingame and generaly cause trouble, why isnt there already a way to block automatic standing related messages like this? _______________________________________ [a cool picture here] |

On MY client, there is a checkbox, defaulted as 'off', that says "send a message to" the person to whom you are setting or changing personal standings. Since it is 'off' by default, no one I set standings to knows. I can only assume that you have this box checked, or that the dynamic you describe only happens when a change is made to corpmates. At any rate, I don't think this is common or usual, and I really see very little potential for the griefing you describe.
IOW, if someone sets personal standings to me at -10, and I get a message to that effect, I will act toward them as they act toward me. In hisec, it really means nothing more than a different color scheme for symbology in local and/or on the overview. In lowsec or nullsec, it really means nothing more than a reminder that you should never trust anyone.

I think he's meaning that you can send messages to people that have blocked you, by altering standings.

None of this speaks to 'you can' send messages to the to grief them. In fact, what he says is that "it" sends them an upsetting message, implying a loophole that, tbh, I do not think exists, and then asking for a way to block these "automatic" messages. The fact that the checkbox allows the user to choose whether or not the person receives a message indicates that the method for blocking them already exists and that the messaging is far from automatic.
I guess we just read things differently.
