I've been playing around with using the domi as a support ship in small gang work, mostly for ratting, but I fit balanced to avoid constant refits. This build does fairly well, considering my low SP:
1x Heavy Nosferatu I 1x Medium Remote Armor Repair System I 1x Large Energy Transfer 1x Drone Link Augmentor
1x Large Capacitor Battery 1x Cap Regen 1x Sensor Booster I 2x 20km Warp Disrupter
1x 1600mm Plate 1x Damage Control 1x Explosive Hardener 1x Kinetic Hardener 1x Thermic Hardener 1x Medium Armor Repairer I
For drones I have a variety of maintenance/ewar bots, as well as a compliment of heavies for damage dealing when necessary (NOTE: Pay attention to your combat drones, as they will attack your gangmates if you've locked them for repping/etc.), and of course I substitute named/tech 2 components for the above where my skills and wallet allow.
It engages quite nicely at 25km range (with e500 nos) and can not only suck the life out of just about anything, but can transfer the cap it doesn't use (and it doesn't use much) to the rest of the group. The scrams help pin down slippery opponents, and the sensor booster just ups yer locking time.
I usually leave the build like this for solo PvE, as the right drones can usually do just fine vs. bs spawns, the only problem is getting your fat ass into range. Switch the scrams for an AB/MWD and that should solve that.
Just another useless build from the PHREN labs. Enjoy.

So are there any new Domi setups out there? I'm about to get mine in about 5 minutes and would like some more up-to-date advice about how to set it up as an effective L4 mission runner (mostly solo). Can anyone provide any help? Thanks in advance.

Domi setup:
I love the omnidirectional tracking links: fit at least two. Makes HeavyDrones kill cruisers, makes Sentry drones hit small things at distance and cruisers at 10km
After that it is what u need to for the job
I like 5* Dual 250mm, Traccy 3 * Omni, ABII / MWD, CapBooster 4* hardener 2 * EANM 1*LARII
I run an expensive setup for missions so my LARII is faction and with 3 nanopumps I get 150 armour repaired / sec which at 90% primary resists = 1500 DPS tanking ability. With 1 cap booster I run all 4 hardeners and LARII indefinitely. In practice I dont need the LAR on very often :-)

I like this, but it needs good drone skills:
highs: All the nos that will fit: 3-4 heavies, rest meds
Meds: Depends on what kind of combat. If close range no ab or mwd. dual web, scram/disrup, 1/2 cap injecter med
lows: 2 LARS, 3/4 active hards, eanm, 0/1 plate (depending on how much nos)
ofc t2 or named
This setup needs t2 heavies to imo if against other hard tanking bs's

I normally fly a Tempest but since I trained Drone interfacing to lvl 5 plus I got Gallente BS to lvl 4 so I could fly the Machariel I though why not try the Domi? I still haven't seen many setups using neuts much so here is mine and I admit I am no Domi pilot in fact my first is Still in my hanger waiting to be fitted up.
3 x Heavy Diminishing Nos 3 x Medium Unstable Neuts
1 x 100mn MWD II 1 x Heavy Electrochemical Cap Booster Plus Web Scram and sensor booster or something else.
1 x LAR II 1 x MAR II 3 x Hardeners II 1 x DC II 1 x Beta RCU
I did some very rudimentary calculations and I figure that this would be worse that having 6 heavy nos on you (which I can't obviously fit) I drain 75 Cap per second, transfer 30/s (85/s including the cap booster) to my ship but use 32/s because of the neuts. The heavy cap booster should feed my armour reps and everything else for some time cap booster gives 55 cap/sec but mods are using just under 60 cap/sec. Ok its not sustaining but does my setup trade off or should I change it for more medium Nos?
Cheers

So what do you guys think of the new NOS characteristics ccp is about to integrate into Eve?!? nosdomi's are about to be completely nerfed what with nos's now only doing anything when your cap is LOWER than that of your opponent's ship!! i am thinking the birth of the NEUTdomi as long as you have a healthy supply of cap boosters...

i have just setup a nos domi this whole ccp thing with nos just sucks i totally disagree with it because, im sorry but that will totally destroy the domi's use in this game and the domi is a very good ship for solo pvp or indeed in a gang atm, it will also annoy the myrm pilot's aswell, i think this is jus a total all round hit towards gallente pilot's.........

The Dominix isn't a capacitor warfare boat, it isn't a solely drone boat either - it has turret slots for a reason you know... ----------

Here is my Domi choice setup... give me any ideas.
Drones ~ 15x ogre I's (choice until I reach Ogre II's)
Hi 4x Heavy Nos T2 (yet to fill so may not work)
Mid 1x Named AB t1 4x cap charger array (2x are t2, 2x are eutectics t1)
Low 1x DCU t2 2x Lg. A.Rep t2 (don't run both, suck you dry) 2x 1600mm rolled tungsten 2x EANM t2
I sit with 18263 armor hp. My recharge rate is at 397 and I still need to increase my cap size and rate through skillage. This is a beast and deserves to be seen as one... just an ugly beast

I posted in another Dominix thread a few days ago, but here's an update to the fitting I mentioned there. After having run more Level 4's with the original setup, I realize it was lacking in some ways. My current setup is thus:
Highs: 350mm Coil Guns x6 (or x5, plus a drone link aug) Mids: LiF Booster, X-Large C5-L Emergency Shield Boost, Shield Boost amp x3 (or x4, dropping the LiF Booster) Lows: Local Power Plant Manager - Diagnostic System x5, Local Power Plant Manager - Capacity Power Relay, Damage Control Drones: Warrior II x5, Valkyrie II x5, Ogre SD-900 I x5, Ogre I x5 (obviously if you can use T2 heavies then do it)
It's WAY cheaper to fly than a fully T2 fitted version, and generally works well in the all the missions I've come across. The second room of "In the Midst of Deadspace" was a gamble what with the warp scramming frigs but I made it out intact. I did however have to cancel the "Duo of Death" mission since I could not out-DPS the shield recharge of the Centi Tyrants by myself. I should note I only have large hybrid at 3 and Gallente BS at 3.

Edited by: Wolkow III on 07/10/2007 06:30:47 3x Heavy Diminishing Power System Drain I 3x Medium Unstable Power Fluctuator I
1x Quad LiF Fueled I Booster Rockets 1x Warp Disruptor II 1x X5 Prototype I Engine Enervator 1x Heavy Electrochemical Capacitor Booster I 1x Sensor Booster II
2x Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II 1x Damage Control II 1x Dark Blood Reactor Control Unit 1x Large Armor Repairer II 1x Armor Explosive Hardener II 1x Armor Kinetic Hardener II
1x Anti-Thermic Pump I 2x Trimark Armor Pump I
5x Ogre II 5x Heavy Armor Maintenance Bot I 5x Hobgoblin II
6562 shield, 8.2/s, E/T/K/Ex=12/29/47/64 10267 armor, E/T/K/Ex=77/71/81/74 4687.5 cap, +14.08/s, -140.114/s 950.0 m/s 368.5 DPS
With this setup you suck 75cap/sec and the heavy NOS compensate the medium neut exactly with energy emission 4, so no cap loss on that end. I have BS5 and almost maxed drone skills so 5x Ogre II on a webbed target (and I'm on top of them fast with the MWD) I do around 370 DPS...with my resists and tank, well ... it's my favorite ship to fly in low-sec so far.

I see nos suggestions for the domi here- forget to check the date on those suggestions. Since the nos nerf you really need to o with guns.
The following setup kicks ass, but is quite expensive..
High: 6x Neutron Blaster cannon II
Med: 2x Dread Guristas invulnerability field II 1x Dread Guristas X-large Shield booster 1x True sansha heavy cap injector 1x Dread Guristas Shield boost amp
Low: 1x Damage control II 2x PDU II 1x Reactor control II 3x Shadow serpentis Magnetic field stabilizer I
Rigs: 2x Cap recharge I (or II if you can get them) 1x Power rig I
Implants 1x 5% Large hybrid damage 1x 5% damage to all turrets 1x Set of Crystal implants (If you`re low on isk go for the LG set, but ue the 50% Crystal Omega)
This setup is crazy for pawnage and does insane damage, while still tanking quite a bit..:)
An alternative is to dump the shield boost amp and switch the PDUs for RCU IIs - then you can switch the power rig for a EM res rig and switch the shield boost amp and and go for 2x Faction hardners 1x Dread invulnerability field.. I`ve not yet tried this myelf, but you should be able to upgrade to pith b-type x-large shield boost (might need 2x dread guristas hardners though).

Made me thing, might try this...
Dominix
6x Neutron Blaster Cannon II [80xVoid L]
1x Warp Disruptor II 1x X5 Prototype I Engine Enervator 2x Cap Recharger II 1x Domination 100MN MicroWarpdrive
1x Dark Blood Reactor Control Unit 1x Dark Blood Power Diagnostic System 1x Damage Control II 1x Large Armor Repairer II 2x Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II 1x Armor Explosive Hardener II
2x Ancillary Current Router I 1x Capacitor Control Circuit I
5x Ogre II
6890 shield, 9.41/s, E/T/K/Ex=12/29/47/64 7763 armor, E/T/K/Ex=77/63/63/74 4921.874776482582 cap, +29.7/s, -113.494/s 1026.0 m/s 657.3 DPS
I wouldn't use blasters without a MWD imho... the domi doesn't have the tracking bonus the mega has, imho mega is a better blaster boat then the domi but with Ogre II the DPS is quite substantial... the Domi is also cheaper granted, but I wonder if those blasters would ever hit anything without magstab...

Edited by: Rylert on 09/10/2007 01:40:27 I am scouring the internet for a good PVP dom setup. I am worried that the Dom is not good at PVP. (Do not mind the way I am typing, I am watching Heroes and sorta ranting or asking general questions)
1) Is it better to have mass quantities of armor? I have under 20k armor hp. Or is it better to be more effective at blocking more damage with less armor? I see armor setups that are under 10k and I wonder how effective they are.
I understand that you have to have a Vampadom setup... But how would one get around the smartbomb problem? Would Energy Neuts and vamps seemingly make the problem go away? Ogre II's would be a good way to kill... And any Dom worth its salt MUST be an armor tank.
Any other ways to increase Dom's survivability during PVP interactions? I guess, 1v1 maybe the Dom would do well. But if you drop the cap chargers, then would Nos' cover your LG. reppers? You would have to drop the cap chargers in order to fit the warp stabs and any other pvp items... warp destabs or webbers... hmmm.
Highs: (As many vamps and energy neuts as possible)
Mids: 1x named AB (probably not MWD just because it reduces your cap. size) 4x t2 cap rechargers
Lows: 1x t2 DCU 2x t2 Lg. armor Repper 2x 1600mm tungesten 2x t2 EANM II
Any other ideas? Drop me a line.

considering the post 2 above you is a T2 based PVP fit, i suggest you try atleast reading the thread instead of just being an offensive idiot.

Edited by: Raevyn Oreminst on 15/01/2008 01:51:10 I'm not sure about the lasers but my setup works well for me: Heavy rails and Heavy Nos in the Hi's; Shield and Cap Rechargers in the Med's; and and 2 Hardeners, 1 Heavy Rep, 2 Med Reps and Misc in the lows.
It all boils down to drones with this ship: protect yourself and shoot back long enough for your drones to reduce targets to scrap. <img src="http://a521.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/126/l_d8ea0120936b0e1b7a13fd9800002148"> |
