I'll wait a couple of hours....I remember a patch ccp did that when uploaded deleted a file on your computer and would not allow you to restart your computer...
From CCP, something like: OPPS!..by the way DO NOT TURN YOUR COMPUTER OFF..make sure you have this file (blah blah blah) Sorry about that...Good Luck!

For those of you who've never bought a house (as I have) or a car (as I have x4) or a computer (as I have x~5) or have a credit card (as I have.... ...lots) read carefully:
When your brand new car has an electronics problem or a misfire, or your new house springs a leak, or your new computer blue-screens, you MIGHT have warranties for repair or free service or whatnot, but YOU STILL HAVE TO PAY YOUR DEBT ON THAT ITEM WHILE IT'S BEING FIXED!!! I'd love to see ANY of you take your Chevy Cavalier (you loser) into the dealership and demand a reduced payment that month because "it needed fixed and I couldn't use it."
YES, you pay for EVE - YES, sometimes it gets broken and needs fixed, YES you'll still pay your monthly payment(s) because THAT'S LIFE. Now, granted, you might never make it out of mommy and daddy's basement (or attic, for those of you more worthless than others) and come to know this real life I speak of, but trust me - it's out there, it's real, and the only difference between EVE and, oh, I dunno, Wells Fargo, is that HERE, on THESE forums, SOMEONE might actually respond to you.
Now quit *****ing and go get dressed - you don't want to be late to your shift at McDonalds...
/rant
Just to say that some of the people who were complaining may not be children, indeed they may have a similar status to you, but they have perhaps made the difference between a real world debt for a tangible item and a charge paid in advance for a service. Your analogy is slightly inaccurate: it may have more weight if you compared EVE with a cable service. If you cannot watch your favourite TV shows for 24-hours you won't be too happy and because providers know that you have a choice, so (assuming they're decent), you would be credited the lost time at the end of the billing period.
Personally, I don't mind the wait, although it is frustrating. EVE is ambitious in its aims and that's why I like it.
Having said that, telling everyone it's going to be down for 24 hours, then crediting everyone with an extra day's play would be my choice for future updates...24-hour PLEX anybody? ;-) . Plenty of time to get things right and a huge fanbase dribbling to play after a day without their fix...
Peace

now that the eve client will be using 64bit id tags does that mean stacked items will no longer be limited to 2147483647 units? due to 2147483647 being that max number of available ids of the old 32bit system? SIG: if my message has spelling errors its cos i fail at typing properly :P |

This would cost a lot, but since everybody here seems to complain about necessary patch I dont think there would be anything else to do.
By the way this game is really nice so I dont care waiting for it ti be better!

Show's how little you know about how content and connections are provided or how Service Level Agreements work.
It's all in the EULA.
There is no promise implied or otherwise that you will have constant access to the service. It is spelled out plainly that there will be downtimes for system maintenance as well as emergency repairs and that you are not eligible for compensation in the case of such outages.
You'll find that your cable company has similar language in the contract you signed with them. And further if you should lose your cable service for 24 hours because some idiot contractor with a backhoe took out a major fiber trunk you most certainly will not be getting a credit on your service.
Now stop acting like a little baby and HTFU.

Edited by: Rendini on 02/11/2010 18:11:03 Can't get the game to work. I'll open up the client and it will say "The update has been downloded. The client will now close and the update process will begin". Then nothing.
edit: looks like the installer is running in the background, but I can't see it at all.

Will it ever be changed? Maybe not the full 2^63, cause damn that's a huge number, but maybe just 2^32 or 2^33. I like snarky numbers.

Is it just me, or is everything ever so slightly sluggish? Dragging items, clicking and getting the item to operate etc. etc. Its not instantaneous like it was, sometimes taking 3 seconds now before the action happens.

Windows still not stacking correctly, sigh. Dragging cargo container window onto wreck container it stays till you close the windows, next time you try the window is reset to default position :( CCP have had 7 attempts at fixing and still doesnt work. Seriously is it that difficult a fix ?
