Before the change in Motherships people lamented that there was no real role for them. I'm not going to go over all the complaints people had about them here.
New Role For MotherShips
PvP Ship Carrier And Clone Bay.
Background
When I was in 00 space there was on occasion calls for ops that were 30+ jumps away from your home location. That required that you either have access to a lot of Titans to bridge your large fleet there or you would have to fly in a fleet one system at a time to get the the action. This would also require you to jump one system at a time if you survived the fight back to your base of operation.
I hated that time. To me it was a waste of time and added sometimes an hour or more to an op that many times stopped me from participating. (I have a RL and others do to).
Details
What I am proposing is for Motherships to be given the role of carrying many ships to the battle locations via cyno jumps. Then players back in the home systems can clone jump to the Mothership and pull out their battleship to enter the fight. Once the battle is over they would be able to put their ships inside the Mothership and then clone jump back to the origination spot of where they cloned from if they are close to the same Mothership and in fleet and the Mothership has the industrial core turned on.
As it stands now clone jumping is a one way jump. This makes it useless for getting people to the battlefield and back to their distant home systems.
This Mothership should be able to have a ship hanger bay that can carry some 8-15 battleships. (Size of this bay is to be discussed here)
Current SuperCarriers are very strong as it is so this ship would need to be a specialized ship. How that should be done would be discussed here by you all.
Maybe it requires a special rig or a special cap modual for increasing the ship hanger size. Use of this mod or rig reduces the hit points of armor or shields, or maybe reduces the internal boosting of mods. Maybe it is a totally new ship type with itĘs own BPO.
Summary
Motherships would carry large numbers of ships in their ship holds via cyno to distant battle locations and then people back in the distant home systems who are earning isk for the corp or themselves prior to the battle can then clone jump to the Mothership they have made a clone in. After the battle/war they can clone jump back to the same location they cloned from (only) saving hours of time jumping back home from distant battlefields.

1. Can't a Titan already do this with a jump bridge, w/o the added hassle os having to take out ships. Repair and Maintenance is handeled by Archons and Chimera's. Clone Jumps can be done through Rorquals.
2. How would it hold up on a feild dominated by Supercarriers. You would be jumping a very expensive ship into potentially thousands and for Dreads/Super's Tens of Thousands of DPS. It would be a huge Risk for a ship like this.

Not everyone has titans... or wants to tie up a titan to use it as a bridge.
And many times I've jumped to systems that were not in the system you are going to fight but close by. So you do not need to jump large Motherships into a battlezone. Just close to it.
And maybe these Motherships should be stronger then SuperCarriers as far as hit points but just have no bomber capability.

looks like u have a solid idea.
should have a heavy tank, light offensive capabilities and very long jump range.
so u can cyno in 2-3 jumps away from fight and unload characters and theyr ships... this way u save time and potential losses on the way to the battlefield. --------------------------------------

i like it What about if the mothership instead of carrying lots of ships in a hanger was a mobile jump gate? So it cynos in, plants itself using a type of siege / triage module and opens a gate that say links to another mothership in the home system much like a jump bridge at a pos?

Titan jump bridge range is notoriously short. Make the mothership's longer. In fact, make it the longest ranging jump capable ship in the game. Give it massive hitpoints with no fighter bombers. Make it dockable. I'm talking a mobile station. I want to see my ship docked inside it so I can spin it while I wait for it to jump. Make its docking bay massive. Make it good against sub-caps but terrible against capitals. Give it a clone bay.
The mothership should be your home away from home. It should have maintenance bays, docking bays, fitting services, repair services, corporate hangers, large cargo bays, and a fuel bay. It should be like a mini-station that can jump and deploy fighters.

I would like a new mothership class vessel, that could be used as mobile base for nomad living or guerilla warfare deep inside enemy territory, something with a decent size for the ship maintenance bay (bigger than supercarrier). Something that would be lighter than a POS.

No, no, something smaller, not a movable station. Something affordable, that would cost up to dread price at most, jump capable, with very large ship maintenance bay (bigger than SC) and carrier/SC corp hangars size. A light base of operations for nomadic life / guerilla warfare. Might be unarmed.

Eve is small enough as it is. Shortening the time it takes to get anywhere, at this point, is only going to worsen the situation. JB networks, WHs, titan bridges and hell, even jumping systems 1 by 1 are fine as they are. Also as somebody stated, we need less supercaps, not more.
I remember when the only option for "fast travel" was having a set route of bookmarks 15 km behind the stargates so you could warp to 15 to jump instantly. (yeah, there was no WTZ. For some time there's been a warp to 10 and only after that we came to the WTZ, the number of bookmarks for instant jump was becoming troublesome for the server).
