So your soloing some sites, my flavour are C3s love em to bits..
I release my drones and whoa they're 10-20-30-40-50-60-70-80-90 KILOMETERS BEHIND ME.
Yet they do fire on locked target from that distance and when told to dock, they do in 2-3 seconds. Its as if there's a "distance" bug as they function normally but are at a huge distance away from me.
Yes I've sumbitted TWO bug reports of this and this is also happening to a corpie so its not just me.

I would like to confirm that, no, I have not had this happen to me.

Sure it's not a client desync? Not done WH space yet so I can't comment too much there.

I can confirm there's a bug with regards to distance.
However, it's been happening, for me, with tractor beams. when the can or wreck is tractored, it briefly appears in the opposite position from where it was.
For example, if Wreck A is located on a grid at (4,5), it appears to snap to (-4,-5) for a moment before returning to position.
However, it's not quite that simple- the distance by which it snaps to appears to be the inverse of the real value. For example, if a object is 14262 meters away, it'll snap to (IIRC) 26241m.

I've noticed a bug in regards to wrecks spawning in wormholes. When I kill a Sleeper, the wreck sometimes spawns as far as 15km away from where it was when it popped. Strangely enough though, when this happens, I'm able to activate salvagers on it from 15km away, which makes me think the server thinks it's where it should have been, and it's a client issue...
Also: The tractor beams pulling wrecks hundreds of km away for a split second isn't only in wormholes for me, it usually happens with me in all kinds of space. -------- Enemy corps raided into disbandment: Three.

I can conform your story in not just wormhole space but in empire as well. I have found that drones set to agro will keep on killing regardless of the drone control range. How ever they seems to stop at your locking range.

Ive had a similar bug was when a BS rat spawned outside our outpost and was constantly flying away from it. I asked a corpy if he saw it at like 900km but he said no, it was at 40km from him so i opened fire.
As far as my screen was concerned i was getting hits at 900-1000km+ though in actuality they were in range.

Sounds a bit like the tractor beam bug (where the wreck 'jumps' out to a massive distance and then back).

In my early days I remember a bug that I could never reproduce. I had warped in a belt, and when the rats started shooting at me I warped off. But then I noticed that I was STILL being shot at by the rats, and I would've gone down had I not jumped out of the system. I tried everything to reproduce it but never could. ____________________

I had a similar problem during a gate camp a week ago.
My corp and I were sitting on a gate and I had my alt on the gate as well. I noticed on my alt's screen that my main appeared to be 150+KM away from the gate. At first I thought I must have double clicked and started flying away accidentally but after looking back at my main, I was right where I belonged.
It wasn't just an icon bug, my main was in a dictor so I was right in the middle of the gate, and I could no longer see the ship there. The rest of my corp confirmed I was actually in the gate where I belonged.
