you are refering to the correctly dubbed " Angle Flare" im all for new forms of defence but missles are lacking enough as is

Lacking sry i cant see that Range vice its really good You can hit **** That 10 m from you and 70 k away ? That is not lacking in usabilty... i fly the mael sometimes and if a bs is orbiting it at say like 500 to 1000 ...( not that you see that lot) it actualy have a hard time hitting and can go to like 70 k with 800 reapating and a tracking computer + barrage. where the drake goes to 70 if you a month old and hits if your 1 meter from it.. Sry to see where they are lacking. but thx for showing interest in the topic. and correct me if im wrong.

OK ill give you that i can guarantied hit a target any where i want , how ever damage is another thing , i can hit a interceptor with a torpedo but i will do all of 3 damage.
and my point was not to discourage "point defense systems" it was more to there should not be a counter to only one weapon system , if you bring out a counter for missiles you need to do the same for lasers, hybrids, and projectiles.

agred Thou tracking disruptors already have that affect... so i think it would be awsome to get an anti missle defense... TD even have both range and tracking ... so if your enemy have enoguh tracking you just switch for range (arbitrator hulls gets bonus). im not saying you shall take all dps from it (like a curse takes away cap and tracking from any turret user wich should also be fixed ;) ) But just reduce the damage from a missles if you chosse to spend Power grid and cpu on it... my vaga bond would love it :) makes speed tank work again.

Sorry defender missiles are already in the game, just because no one uses them doesn't mean they aren't there.

AFAIK what you are wanting is countermeasures (flares/chaff) to confuse the missile. These are not "active defenses" in that they do not seek out and remove the missile as a threat (link laser defense, PATRIOT missiles etc). AFAIK the Defender missile in-game fits into the active defense category.
It would be nice to have something similar to flares/chaff that could break a missile lock, and have a fixed amount of 'charges.' - obviously the chance would be skill and equipment based.

tracking disruptor II no scripts : Tracking speed bonus -20.1 % optimal range bonus -20.1 % it have a optimal range on 48 km and a fall off on 24km, but fact is (testet this today) even at 2000 meters it ****s up 425mm guns Completly!

Note the title of the thread "That works" if you show me a defnder missel that can reduce the damage, like tracking disruptors does from a chossen target with tracking needs. ill clap my hands and start hunting drake gangs!

The problem with defender missiles is they only affect missile already in flight and launched only at your individual ship. Add to it that they only will target the closest individual missile, and even packing your highs with launchers launching defender missiles doesn't accomplish the sought after effect.
Drones are killable. No special weapon needed really, other than sig radius and speed considerations. Turrets can be tracking disrupted. Note that both these in-game counters not only protect your ship but your entire fleet from that one turret ship or that one ships drones. Additionally, neither suffers the same overkill v distributed damage problme that defender missiles have.
If any specific anti-missile mod were introduced to the game it would have to be careful not to negate all the missiles in flight, and only those of one ship. And, it would have to be either weak enough that some damage can still get through (other drones) or that indivual piloting could have a chance to overcome it (TD and range/ammo/flight direction adjustment). Whether flares could be made to those things I don't know. But if a fleet of drakes could be countered in such a manner then possibly no or only rather minor changes to the Drake could be an outcome. |
