1. get off the ship 2. go inside station cities and towns 3. actually go inside your office and change the way it looks. 4. be able to see hangers first hand. 5 and with the new outpost feature, you would be able to go in the control tower its self. 6. go onto friends ship if invited.
These are just some raw ideas I had but you get the idea Let me know what anyone of you thinks about it.

Edited by: Vvari on 08/01/2005 21:15:35 Being able to leave ur ship and walk around would be a great feature and I would love to see it in. not only for the OMG effect, but also for socializing and getting a beer at the station with ur friends, mabey even implement some rooms where u can play minigames(casino?).
But then there is the question ¿how would this be usefull?¿ Ofcourse the basic things like buying stuff from vendors, walking around your ship and speaking with agents is cool. also would it levitate smack talk to a new lvl (figth sim any1?).
But there migth also be a few realy usefull things, like a room where you can discus tactics and draw them out on a board for others to see. Mabey share setups on ships with database and come to new setups and a new level of effectiveness in pvp. On a ¦Widescreen-Hologram¦ you can even view the entire batle and commanders can give tactical help from a safe station so they wont die during the batle.
There loads of thinsg that can be done, but the question that remains: do you want the devs to work on this on new ships modules and mabey even totaly new things like the POS¦s or on being able to jump around in a station?
I cant awnser this question, I want it both. so conclusion: I doubt we will ever see this althoug I would love it.

I don't see that a tactical board would be useful at all, seeing as ships' shields aren't directional and damage isn't location specific. -------- MAcheTT3 > Hehe, ok... How much would you take them off for? |

range relies on the enemy being where you expect them to be.

Planetary stuff and station stuff is planned for the far future... ie. at least 2 years. Stick around that long and you will get your wish.
note: "Planned" refers to devs are considering it.

This would be cool, except they'd have to make a whole 1st person aspect to the game.
That, and we're all supposed to be suspended in pods filled with go our entire lives, I think. ---------------

well, from a "role play" and bac-story perspective, this would be hard to implement due to CCP's "great" idea of having the player in the pod at all times. which was a retarded idea. what this pod-at-all-times thing does is...
disallow out of ship abilities (without a storyline change)
means ships can never take advantage of possible future additions of crew to boost different attributes and ship upgrades,
allow diplomatic emmisaries from different factions to board ships to discuss with allies - could be a better approach for heated and tense discussions as trust would play a big part, and people couldnt just shoot everyone as people from both sides would be on the same ship and making things difficult to say the least.
all the possibilities of different things have been bummed by the "living in an egg all the time" routine.
a better idea long ago was, you sit in a normal chair while in space, then if you eject from your ship or you get blown up you get "ejected / plunged" into your egg matrix style in one of those bio energy sack things, to preserve you. this way, the character portraits wouldnt seem so "shop window-like" when in actual fact everyone is in a big sticky egg like mess.
also this idea to the backstory would have alieviated the need for those ****ty pod pilot stories.

p.s. i would love out of ship integration to eve. especially being in the landing / docking bay and looking up and seeing your gleaming battleship hanging ready for you to take out. yum.

Being able to play the game by walk around outside your ship would make Eve into TWO games.
Its an interesting idea, and I'd like to see it, but it would require vast effort by CCP. All told, they have hotter issues.
Having said all that, if CCP wanted to do this as a pure 'eye candy' feature, that would probably be easier, and it could be expanded latter if warrented. But again, not a burning hot issue.

nice idea, but the mechanics behind it are too vast.. unless theres limitations where you dont actually SEE a character walking around, you just select what "room" to go in and you see the room with various point and click options, and a chat room for that room (like the local/corp rooms) -- maybe you could then implement white board etc..
Otherwise..
maybe just a "Corp Room" where people in yur corperation can go (in your corps "office" maybe?) with a shared whiteboard and list of pictures/drawings.. pretty much like you can save bookmarks to corp hanger etc...

i havent read all the back-story articles, but i just read the science of the capsule and clone article and i didnt see where it said the pilot couldnt get out of the pod once he got inside. maybe im missing something?

no you arent missing something as such, my main rant was about the fact that when you are in your spaceship, you are always in your pod, and all the controls are using crazy neural integration, ergo no crew etc etc. i dont find this a bad idea as such, but being jacked-in to the ship via a simple chair - something that doesnt requre vast amounts of cleaning up and getting dressed into your unform / suit to enable you to get out of your ship and into a space station.
getting in and out of eggs at stations just because you're in one when you fly a ship is a retarded idea i think.
the explunged into a pod upon ship destruction and sitting in a normal chair driving your ship would have made for an easier transgretting to out of ship activities in the eve world and like i said, would spare the need for those crappy pod pilot vs non-pod pilot stories we are given to read when new ship classes t2 variations come out.
